LaTigresse -> Experts! (2/3/2007 7:45:57 AM)

As I sit here blissfully drinking my Saturday morning coffee and perusing the various forum boards, going back over a few I contributed to the last few days, reading thru some new ones.......I contemplate something and begin to wonder if I am alone in something.

I have been reading and adding my thoughts to these forums for quite a few months now. Long enough to get to know many of the regular's personal styles and favourite areas of posting. Now, with hormones and my natural spaciness I do tend to forget ALOT, but by some miracle I am able to retain a surprising amount also. Enough to recognze some patterns of different regular posters. Now bear with me and my ramblings (or not, and leave I really don't care[:D]) but I begin to see that there are some that just seem to really LOVE to constantly toss sticks in others spokes, always a real downer and negative, loving the past time of argument. Then I begin to ponder the styles of such and something new kind of jumped out at me after reading one particular thread. Experts. There are a few people that just seem to know everything about everything and have a personal tale of their life history to validate it.
Now I know, given my 44almost45 years, that if a person lives long enough we can and do experience alot. Job changes, partners, friends, family members, etc.,who's life experiences also contribute to our personal knowledge. But, (you knew there had to be a but) doesn't it seem interesting that there are some people that when passionately involved in a debate ALWAYS are able to come up with their own personal life experience story that validates why they are right and anyone that disagrees with them is an idiot? After reading enough of it, and seeing a pattern any thinking person, even one with limited memory like me, must begin to doubt the validity of all this expert....ness (if such a word exists, if not I just made it up)

Myself, I just tend to find the humour in it and move on. After so long I lose respect for that poster and don't really give any creedence to their "facts". In addition to the fact that I just get sick of negative argumentative people that seem to love to spread their negativety around.

I am not going to ask the usually "has anyone else ever?" question. Of course someone has. I guess I am just pondering what might be driving these people.

Aileen68 -> RE: Experts! (2/3/2007 7:56:26 AM)

Well it's about time someone wrote a thread about me.  [;)]
Seriously...I think some people just love the sound of their own brain.
You are not alone in your questioning their validity.

I'll be the first to admit that I really don't know much about much in this little world of bdsm.  I learn as I go.

BRNaughtyAngel -> RE: Experts! (2/3/2007 8:04:18 AM)

Well I notice the negativity and argumentative nature of a lot of posters.  Some people seem to thrive on arguing or just being a smartass about everything.  Gee, it makes ya wonder why they are alone, huh? [8|]

And in some cases, I wonder how they could have time to gain all of the experience and knowledge they stake claim to, when they spend so much time here telling everyone else they're wrong or not doing it right. [sm=rolleyes.gif]

Edited to add: When I say smartass, I'm not talking about fun humorous kinda sarcasm, but rude, negative sarcasm.

LaTigresse -> RE: Experts! (2/3/2007 8:14:37 AM)

Yeah, I enjoy the fun smartassiness. I am just thinking different.

Like if I brought up the price of tea in China, they'd be a former tea merchant, grower, importer/exporter or something or other.

Mikal -> RE: Experts! (2/3/2007 8:15:39 AM)

I figure such people exist for balance... some people are nice & humourous, others are nasty & mean.  It evens things out in the world.

MasterFireMaam -> RE: Experts! (2/3/2007 8:17:19 AM)

Can you guess what I'm going to say? *chuckle*

Sometimes, people get wrapped up in being reactive to "other people's stuff" rather than seeing their own stuff, how it's influencing them and how they can better control their reactions. If their survival archetypes are working in the shadow (meaning, in this case, giving negative influence to their lives), they're much more apt to be a negative person. There are some people who enjoy tearing other people down. This is the "crab in a bucket" syndrome.

Ever been crabbing? If you put one crab in a bucket, it will do everything it can to get out of the bucket and often will. However, if you put two or more crabs in a bucket, they will continually pull their bucketmates back down into the bucket simpy because they want to stand on that mate in order to try and get out themselves. Moral: some people pull others down in order to be able to say, "Look how much better I am than THAT person."

Others practice chaos spirituality and often throw stones and wrenches in order to deliberately stir things up. To them, this is a way to get their fellow crabs to look outside the bucket. Anger is often an effective tool to do this. It's kinda like personal training. LOL

Or their sisters neighbors dog groomers mailman was one...... so that makes the poster an expert. [8|] [;)]

BRNaughtyAngel -> RE: Experts! (2/3/2007 8:22:07 AM)

I wuz gonna say that exact same thing MFM, but you beat me to it. [8|] hehe

Very insightful analogy........ Crabby People....... yup. [;)]

LaTigresse -> RE: Experts! (2/3/2007 8:22:43 AM)

Thank you MasterFire, that is kind of along the lines of what I was thinking (only you said it alot better).

A reflection of their own unhappiness or insecurities, making them want to tear others down or drag them down with them to feel better about themselves.

The sad part I guess, is that it is so obvious except to those that do it.

gandalf0297 -> RE: Experts! (2/3/2007 9:37:05 AM)

You have to have the experts to realize just how good you really are. In this case a bit of ignorance is bliss. I would not want to go through life thinking I  know EVERYTHING. how boring.

Well, it just so happens that I was a tea merchant one summer during college. And let me tell you, it's no easy way to make a living. First you have to worry about whether the coolies bringing in the harvest are stashing leaves in their pockets to sell on the black-tea market, then you have to cope with the aches and pains of elderly, half-blind seamstresses sewing the little bags. Not to mention the agony of trying to get the tea into the bags without two-thirds of it winding up on the floor. And then you find out that some bastard from Lipton is undercutting your price to retailers . . .

Sorry, what was the topic again?

FullCircle -> RE: Experts! (2/3/2007 10:21:30 AM)

What is the price of tea in China I’m curious now. I mean I’ve heard people say I would not exchange something for all the tea in China but no one has ever put a price on all the tea in China before now?

expert = "ex" (has been) + "spurt" (drop of water under pressure)

expert = has been drip under pressure

I do have some familiarity with fellatrixes as it happens, wouldn't wanna call myself an expert......

Not until I have studied them more, anyway---lifelong search for truth and all that...
