Not a nascar fan as such (it gets little coverage this side of the ocean) but a motorsports fan. I am a great fan of our equivalent of nascar, which we call touring cars. Should be able to actually make a race or two this year even tho' viewing it live can be a dissapointment compared to TV unless you get the right spot on the track as over here we turn right as well as left and dont care if it rains either, swap the tyres and send em right back out to trade paint and door mirrors :)

I drag raced for years...so I prefer my racing in a straight line. Can't quite get the idea of passing the finish line and still having more race to go...lol. Maybe I just can't turn left....but it's all good; cars, horsepower, the smell of race fuel and tire smoke....awwwwwwwww...memories.

Don't you mean NASCRAP? The most boring form of motorsports.

Motorcycle racing #1
Drag racing #2

Those are some great athletes in Nascar. Drive fast, turn left. Yep, that takes talent!

Growing up in the state where Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart came from..and the town where Tony and Jeff Gordon raced a lot... I am a bit of a NASCAR fan by default.

I don't watch every race, but I do know the players.  I was thrilled as can be when JJ won the title last year, its about damn time.  The only race I always watch is the Bristol night race...its a short track (the only kind I like) and adding the night part is just a cool way to watch it.  I think there is one other I enjoy, I can't think of the name..but it has a few hills and things in it, Jeff always does good there.

My ex got me burned out on it all big time, we would watch every 3-4 hour race.  After that, I just can't do it anymore, but I try to keep an eye on the chase for the cup.

If you take the speed (which turns me on), the rubbing (kinda exciting sometimes), and the men (which also turn me on)..then you have a pretty good day.  I have found though that for most of them, I can watch the beginning, the last 15 min..and still get as much out of it as sitting there for four hours.

Not a NASCAR fan, but I like Formula One and I'm wondering what all you rednecks think about that little foreign fairy Juan Pablo Montoya coming over to race for the Ganassi team. Are the good ole boys gonna let him race, or are they gonna give him a warm welcome by sending him into the wall?

Montoya will happily push back, I remember when he joined F1 and pushed schuie right of the track in one of his early races (maybe even his first). Pointed out that pushing was not sole perogative of the german :)

i had a friend who introduced me to NASCAR because he was a HUGE Rusty (Wallace) fan. always cheering for #2 every Sunday plus was able one year to travel the circuit like most NASCAR fans and their families. i did go to the Chicago Motorland Speedway in Joliet with him to root for Rusty.  when he died from a brain tumor, his family asked NASCAR and Indy track if they could scatter his ashes over the NASCAR track - it was the only place he wasn't able to visit before his death.

Last year when Juan Pablo Montoya  joined in, that was the big news. The announcers kept talking about Jaun, Juan, Jaun . How will he do since he's  F1 racer.  After a number of  races all that hipe basicly dissappeared as he did not do so well. I think he crashed/caught on fire almost every race he was in.

He had a similar problem in F1, being often over-aggressive he would often end up either blowing up the car or parking it very badly at the side of the track. God forbid you ever get Colin McRae driving over there, now there is a driver that doesnt know when hes pushed the car too hard!
