I am sure that this has happened to others, and am curious as to what can be done about it.

One of my slaves photos has been stolen, and is being used by someone on this site. I have used the support button to contact CM, and mailed them through there. Is this the way to report it? I know that on the edit profile page the photo upload section mentions that photos have to be ones you have taken yourself. As it is NOT taken by the person, isn't this a violation of CM rules?

If you go to the profile page, you can report it directly by clicking on "report profile", but the way you've done it sounds like it would work too.

That sucks, I hope you are able to get it cleared up.

Unfortunately, this type of thing isn't too uncommon.  If I recall from past posts, CM will take care of it - it violates TOS to post pictures that are not yours.  But keep in mind that the site is run on volunteer work so they're not going to react instantly.

Lorelei,

The report profile button was my first choice, but the report options are very specific and and don't cover this. Appreciate your suggestion though.

How do you copyright a picture? Is there somewhere to register it?

We would like to know how to copyright them as well. We have more photos, but are now afraid to post them.
To the mods... I TOLD her this belonged in the off topic discussion forum, but she managed to convince me otherwise.

Technically you automatically have copyright if you are the creator. However it is best, so you can prove it, to embed a copyright statement with some identifying info such as a screen name into the image somewhere. This way if someone copies the image you simply point out that you are 'Lorelei115' for instance and the picture says '(c) 2007 Lorelei115' somewhere which makes it pretty clear that it is yours.

That's a really good idea and I one I had never thought of.

Well looks like I have a project to start.

LaTigresse -> RE: Photo Theft (2/4/2007 4:50:09 PM)

Unfortunately there isn't really anything you can do to avoid this. I have found out I have photos on multiple sites on the web. I have contacted the owners of the sites I have found out about but it does no good. I was told that basically, once you put them out there they are fair game.

The way I look at it regardless of who "borrows" mine, there is only one person in this world that will be able to back up the photos with a personal meeting.....MEEE!![:D]

siamsa24 -> RE: Photo Theft (2/4/2007 6:11:49 PM)

I am a professional model and all my pictures are copyrighted.  I have to remove all the copyright marks before collarme will post them because they do not allow copyrighted photos to be posted.

MstrssScarlet -> RE: Photo Theft (2/4/2007 6:28:21 PM)

Long after giving up on a potential female submissive, I saw the picture she used on another profile in another site.  I sent the second person a message letting her know that something was up and that her picture was being used elsewhere.  She emailed me back and said she wasn't suprised and that she'd pretty much given up on the 'online thing' because of problems such as that.  And yes, I'm sure the pictures belonged to the second submissive I contacted.  She gave me enough information (that didn't fit before) to convince me she was the 'real' one.
I like the point LaTigresse makes.  Whenever I meet someone, I always tell them they will recognize me because I look just like my pictures.
