One of the bulb attachments melted inside the wand where it is inserted. The base of the attachment was held in place with some sort of black, tar like substance that liquified, causing the attachment to seperate from the base. I unplugged the wand and was able to pry the base out of it and reattach it to the bulb, but don't know if I should use the bulb again or not.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem? I've no idea what caused the thing to melt to begin with, and would hate to have something worse happen with it.  My pet thinks that it was put together in a hurry, and that the glue used to attach the base was not fully dry when I bought it. I am tempted to return it to the manufacturer, but now everything is working normally again. Even the bulb that melted is working perfectly. Advice or suggestions welcome.

I would contact the maker  and tell them what happened.  that is a pitch like substance  and with enough heat it will soften. it shouldnt have done that  tho... And with what those things cost it shouldnt have happned. It could be that your unit might be getting too warm for some mechanical/ eletrical reason ..

Hi there

Yes ... we had the same problem with our Violet Wand ... if the bits come apart again ... simply remove the metal bar with the rubber surround, stick some glue on the end of the bar, and stick it back on. Electric will pass through the 'super glue'.

It happens because we, as people, have a habit of 'twisting the item free' rather than 'pulling it out'.It only occurs with the globes (or bulbs as you call them).

Come to think of it, I do tend to twist rather than pull. Thanks very much.

badpaliden...thank you as well. I will write the makers and let them know of the problem. If they request that I send it in for inspection, then I will go from there.

Sounds like something else is going on with that device.
The wand is a low current static device. The high current is filtered out through the coils. And thats the simple version of how they work.
Sounds like a short of some kind.
Its little more than a Tesla coil.
Take it to an electric motor shop. It may need new windings.
They can put a multimeter to it and find the fault...if they are good at what they do.
