Actually, Geeky, it was the opposite for me. My life was similar to yours- I was raised half on good southern cooking and half frozen dinners I cooked for myself. My mother was quite grateful for the invention of the microwave. I was never expected or told to keep my room clean and, as I said in my original response, I'm not a terribly neat person. I think partly BECAUSE of that, and because I now have a "home" to care for, I feel a special responsibility for myself to keep it well and to be able to show my abilities and have company over and be proud of my work. Again, though, I wouldn't feel a lack of fulfillment by not doing daily chores and I don't relish doing them really. But since I do have to do them, I take pleasure where I can.
