I've got a very pretty Red-tailed boa constrictor... she came to Me by accident and I fell in love

She's 5ft at present, and will get to be 10-12 ft when full grown.  She eats adult rats, but I'm going to have to start breeding bunnies soon to feed us all!

Anybody else do the snake thing?

I give it about a .5% chance najakcharmer has a snake.  So I think I'd take that bet : )

Why do I get the feeling there'll be a lot of jokes of the 'trouser snake with one eye' variety?!

I used to have a 5 ft ball python named Eva. Unfortunately she died of an infection. I still miss her a lot, and would definitely get another snake in the future.

My pet is terrified of snakes, so I don't own any at the moment. In the past I have had several western diamondbacks, a Tancitaran dusky, a Mexican coral, and once found a common brown snake for sale at a pet shop. The owner of the store thought it was a Baja rat snake.

Its funny, I used to be terrified of snakes, too. Then one night when I was like 16, I had a dream that my whole house was filled with snakes, and I was moving around them and through them without fear. The next morning I woke up and found my terror of snakes had completely vanished. I went to a pet store and held a snake for the first time that day.

The human mind is a funny place. *shrug*

MsStick,
I have a ball python., royal paython to you in the UK. Her name is Daphne. She's about five years old and 4 1/2 feet long. I've had her since she was a hatchling. I always said snakes are good pets - the eat once a week. They poop once a week. They shed once a month or so, all in one piece. And they don't even own claws or vocal chords! The only problem with reptiles, is that it is just not in their nature to be affectionate. Reptiles are solitary creatures, and don't have the emotional capacity that a mammal has. But snakes are very beautiful to look at and soothing to hold.
Good health and long life to both of you.

I have had snakes in the past, Ms. Stick.

Expert snake handlers suggest one handler present for every 6 feet of snake when you decide to take it out to play.

edited to add that what I said means that when the snake is 6'1", do not hold it alone.
