Apparently some people have slow connections, or have laptops, and do not like Macro images popping up.

I got a "timeout" for posting a few (and I did not know that it was bad form to do so on occasion).

so just so a few people know tht the guidelines for GENERAL BDSM topical forum applies to all them..... not just the general.

Perhaps in the future we could put a "56k= NO" or "IMG heavy" in our taglines ?

just an idea and a heads up to some others

**While DB is on a timeout, I am going to allow this one post, since he is offering it as a community service announcement... ;-)**

Bah. People still have 56K modems? Weeeeeeeeeak.

(Actually, I can remember when I had a 56K modem, and large images never bothered me. Never did understand why people thought it necessary to warn "56K Unfriendly" on posts.)

sissy Only has a 56K modem and he remembers seeing one of Darthbetta's posted large images before the Mods removed it. It came up almost instantaneously ... so sissy would like to confirm that the issue is NOT with 56K modems that operate at full speed and compression. The issue is for people using a 56K modem that has lousy data compression or that has negotiated a dial-up connection at a bandwidth less than 56K, or are still using pre-56K modem equipment. So is anyone out there still using their Hayes 1200 baud modem ? <giggles>

Curtsies,

sissy maid lola

Bah. People still have 56K modems? Weeeeeeeeeak.

There are people out there who don't have any better options, regions without access to cablemodem or DSL.

There are other issues as well. I see that the Amazon support box no longer reads "Collarme still needs help to pay for Feb's bandwidth expenses" here, but bandwidth does remain a cost issue to many, particularly our hosts. Others have less-expensive accounts with thier ISPs but must deal with bandwidth limits.

I'm on a network, running through a cable link - and when all 3 of us are online (4, counting my linux box) and someone is using the telephone (which also runs thru the cable modem), performance can really suffer.

I was getting Darthbetta's large pictures as thumbnails - I don't know if this is browser-specific or not. My parsimonous, dinosaur-like attitude (I came up at 1200 baud) would have been unhappy with seeing full-size pics every time I read one of his posts - but that's just me.
