the little girl stood
alone
in the middle of the road
realizing within her
the worry, the fear, the anxiety
her head spinned
thoughts, reasons, questions
her heart
pounding, red, hot and pure
sensing, feeling, perceiving
unsure of everything
but her need to be numb
“go away” she pleaded
to the fears that tore her soul
“not true” she begged
of fears that ripped her mind
she dropped to her knees
as the hot tears
flooded her cheeks
finally escaping
their sudden suffocating prison
of pain, pretending, shame, guilt
her eyes looked up
as her soul pleaded
her words came forth
don’t leave me with a lie
tell me the truth
I deserve the respect
this one last time
