poplolly -> RE: How exactly did you come to think of your profile name? (2/6/2007 8:10:06 PM)

poplolly  is an archaic English word which means: "a little darling (from the French poupelet); a female favourite, special loved one or Mistress" as defined by Susan Klez Sperling in her book Poplollies and Bellibones - A Celebration of Lost Words.

dawntreader -> RE: How exactly did you come to think of your profile name? (2/6/2007 8:39:05 PM)

my screen name comes from the C.S. Lewis story, The voyage of the Dawn Treader, in the Chronicles of Narnia. It has alot of significance to me :-)

Valescere -> RE: How exactly did you come to think of your profile name? (2/6/2007 9:15:21 PM)

Valescere is a latin word, another version of valesco.

Valesco meaning 'to grow strong', valescere meaning more like- 'to have the power to'.

SirKenin -> RE: How exactly did you come to think of your profile name? (2/6/2007 11:14:18 PM)

I came up with my name originally to be able to post on vanilla boards and identify my lifestyle in a stealthy manner so only those in the lifestyle would recognize the usage and I could meet likeminded people.

Thus, Sir is indicative of the fact that I am a Dom.

Kenin is a Japanese word for the top of three ranks of Samurai warriors.  They were the Administrators, or "vassals".

Funny enough I noticed that some jackass on this site stole the name and added some numbers to it after I joined.  The dumbass probably has no fucking clue what the name means.  I guess imitation is the sincerist form of flattery, but still.  Grow more than one brain cell so you can function on your own and not leach off of everyone else.  Poser.

Donnalee -> RE: How exactly did you come to think of your profile name? (2/7/2007 2:15:55 AM)

I used to have a version of my name combined with the middle name my mother wanted to give me, but I picked up a stalker and dropped that profile and started a new one with Donnalee because it has the same rhythm as mine, but the words are different.

LadyEllen -> RE: How exactly did you come to think of your profile name? (2/7/2007 3:05:52 AM)

PAVANE -> RE: How exactly did you come to think of your profile name? (2/7/2007 3:16:02 AM)

wanted an unusual name (so easy to remember) but also one that had a personal meaning to me. so i picked pavane. the name of a science fiction novel by one of my favourite sf authors keith roberts. most of his stories r set in dorset or wiltshire my favourite parts of the uk.
'the wooden towns of wessex. the teashops and castles, fossils and chalk gods;barrows crowning the grey ridge-sided downs , portland tower bawling at the mist.'

Rule -> RE: How exactly did you come to think of your profile name? (2/7/2007 3:20:15 AM)

By decree it is my inalienable birthright to rule all mankind. (I am more interested in science, though.) Hence at first try Rule. Surprisingly, the name was not yet taken.
