I am astounded and alarmed over the 9 online messages I have discovered via the online course I am taking from you at HACC.

As a result of this, I am going to reccommend to the provost- that a incoming interview via phone be necessary for ALL virtual courses. While your book, and your theory endorses a simple easy to read/comprehend, non clutterred website presence: the WebCT format is anything but. WebCT is confusing to navigate- yours moreso then the other course I am taking.

You will be pleased to know that I have enrolled you in an online ratings service- so you can sharpen your teaching skills- and be more successful at your craft. I am sure you will gain from this no cost service!

You are at HACC?  I'm curious about that school for my um.  It has a program that can't be found many places.

Dear professor "x",

I pay [in part] YOUR SALARY. Now bend over and comply!

KatyLied -> RE: Dear Professor "x", (2/6/2007 6:48:49 AM)

And their experiences, do they feel they received good preparation for work?

Im surprised the Pittsburgh region doesnt have more.

Based on my numerous phone calls to HACC, some of the folks are down to earth.   a handfull think they are Harvard/Yale league- LMAO. "O' "KKKKKKKKKKKKKKK"

pahunkboy -> RE: Dear Professor "x", (2/6/2007 6:52:30 AM)

As far as dating goes- if they are from teh northern tier they tend to be honest and down to earth.

compared to the capitol region, where everyone is "slick"

The attitude locally is that Bloomsburg offers the most for the money, has a god reputation. Penn State at State college if you can afford it.

HACC is a community college. Outside of PA, no one has heard of it.

Penn Teck at Williamsport has some impressive curiculi.

Bucknell and Susquehanna are snob schools- they too think they are harvard-yale. but have a price tag to "prove' it.

Ill have to ask around to ans your question. It goes sorta like this "firiends took a few classes at HACC"

so in terms of a great career out of it- bloom is a better bet.

BTW- Lucerne county college- if you are 65 [?] and older- you get free tuition-  depending on if space is left over.

This particular um needs to have an easy path to higher ed.  He can do the work, but has motivation issues.  He recently changed schools and his grades went from failing to A's & B's.  I am hopeful.

pahunkboy -> RE: Dear Professor "x", (2/6/2007 7:04:14 AM)

may I ask- UMs age and area of study?

KatyLied -> RE: Dear Professor "x", (2/6/2007 7:06:25 AM)

Will turn 19 this year, looking at the music business 2-year program.  Honestly, I don't care what he chooses, as long as he gets a certification or associates degree in something, anything.

pahunkboy -> RE: Dear Professor "x", (2/6/2007 7:08:12 AM)

Katy lets take this to email- so we can freely chat.

PA ---

The core issue--why these messages alarmed and astounded you--is not clear to me, but then I don't know the situation. Is it the quantity of messages? The quality? Who are the messages from?

Given that the problem isn't clear, it's hard for me to see how requiring a phone interview would solve the problem. Will that be apparent to the professor? Rather than saying you're going to the provost, I'd consider just making the suggestion to the prof. Going over someone's head is unlikely to win him or her over.

It wasn't clear whether the WebCT format problems were the same as your message concerns or something different. Again, that may be obvious to the prof. Did s/he design WebCT? If this is a key issue, you might want to offer examples of how the poor interface hindered you.

To be honest, the paragraph about the online rating service sounds very sarcastic, even snarky. Is that your intent? That brings up a key question for the letter as a whole: What's the object of the game? Are you trying to get the professor to change? Do you want the college to change? If so, you may get farther with calm reason than sarcasm. Or are you simply venting?

Hope this helps. Did a quick copyedit of the existing text (below).

Cheers,

DC
