I like this 85% cocoa dark chocolate (Lindt makes one)... very low sugar, has quite a bit of fiber and I need one tiny piece to make me happy! Maybe an option... I love chocolate and wine together, all in moderation though.

Low sugar, high fiber dark chocolate???  Sounds like an option to me!  And yes, all in moderation....just one tiny piece....no problem  [sm=evil.gif]

no, I didn't mean that at all... I hope you didn't think I was criticizing you or your health benefits you've found?

Please, if you thought I was, I appologize.

I just noticed that you are a man and you may not be aware (and some women may not be either) that too much yougurt can set off a woman's balance between bacteria and yeast. Women like myself, just need to be careful of the quantities (i.e., four litres I think is too much for women every day)... it's a very real possibility, but, well, women can take the information for what it's worth, balancing their risks (here for a bacterial infection) with the benefits. It's just simply an opinion/something I heard from a friend and her doctor I thought I'd share with everyone.  Be well [:D]

I am on no medications at all.  Haven't been in years.  Was having a lot of digestive problems and after more tests than I would care for, the docs still could not figure it out so he gave me meds to take "indefinitely."  Then my sister read where people are having digestive problems with Splenda (book called "Sweet Deceptions").  I realized these problems of mine began about 3 years ago, also around the time Splenda hit the market and I switched to it.  As a trial, I stopped Splenda.  It's been three weeks and my digestive problems are gone.

I take vitamin supplements.  Vitamin C, B-50, and probiotics.

As for yogurt, I can't have that much dairy.  I take probiotics to give me the good bacteria found in yogurt.  So it's yogurt without the dairy, sugar, and calories, and when I'm sick I can double up and not gain weight.  I highly recommend it.

Really other than vitamins, the only thing I take is Tylenol when I get a headache, and Midol when I have cramps.  I consider myself very fortunate.

I am like you owned, I try very hard to remain off of antibiotics because of yeast growth too. I take asprin for fever, advil for muscle pain (if it is really bad), but I am on no regular medication, other than my Mirena IUD which releases a hormone internally, and I do have that for health reasons and not birth control.

I thought it was only me for the longest time that suffered yeast infections from anti-biotics....not to mention how anti biotics KILL your immune system...I had that abscess recently and they put me on "Bactrim" to treat the infection which I have had before but usually to treat urinary tract infections which never causes any yeast, thank God...

A slender friend in my office turned me on to this recently.  I didn't know it contained quite a bit of fiber.  I had heard that dark chocolate is higher in anti-oxidants than milk chocolate, which is a good thing.  I never used to like dark chocolate, but find I like it now, and just a small piece seems to satisfy me when I am craving chocolate.

yah, I learned throughout my life/female issues... apparently, from what I understand... womens bodies have 2 bacterias and 1 yeast ... if you take antibiotics for something, it kills off the good bacteria and yeast takes over (also, if you bake with yeast, you have to wash your hands thoroughly)... So, in this case, yogurt with good bacteria or those probiotics other have mentioned, is quite beneficial. Yeast infections are very common and easy to get... anything can cause it really -- it seems to me anyhow!

same goes for too much bateria (even the really good ones like in yogurt) one or both of the bacterias in your body can take over and you end up with a bacterial infection... which I have found is much harder to know initially that you have it....  well, there are some tell-tale "signs" I'm not going to say here (fear of some of the off-color remarks that may arise... LOL)... What sucks about bacterial infections is there is no over-the-counter cure (that I know of), you have to go to the doctor. I've had to deal with both problems before, so, I did ask a lot of questions about the subject.

Ok, when I said "quite a bit" I might have been overstating it, but, hey, if it's chocolate and has fiber, it's ok with me [;)]

I happen to have some of this 85% cocoa stuff in my kitchen... here's the info:

Serving Size: 4 squares (WAY more than I eat at one sitting though) has:
210 calories
18g fat
8g Carbs, BUT...
3g of dietary fiber (subtract that from your carbs) and
only 5g of sugar
