MaryT -> Travelling with Toys (2/7/2007 6:23:47 PM)

I'm guessing other than some airport TSA getting surprised by interesting toys, there is not much risk in packing stuff in checked luggage.  Cuffs, connectors, rope, EMT shears, a couple leather implements, etc., are not the kinds of things that are gonna get me yanked out of line.  Right?  I'm going international (on and off a boat), but the luggage is staying on the boat so rigorous customs probably isn't an issue.

Does anyone have thoughts, especially thoughts on what not to do or bring.  Again, checked luggage only.  I'm not carrying any toys on a plane. [&:]

MaryT, looking forward to Spring Break

You can pack almost anything legal in checked baggage without worry.  You dont even have to look the screening people in the eye if they were to have to hand check the bag.  Most places are using scanning machines now.  Pack your batteries in a separate plastic baggie to avoid and potential problems.

sexyone4you -> RE: Travelling with Toys (2/7/2007 10:36:27 PM)

Definitely take out the batteries.  You don't want the airline hearing a buzz & thinking it's a bomb when it's really your vibe.  ;)

I travel a lot with toys. Only problem I personaly have had is that I very often get a "your luggage has been inspected by hand" tag in my suitcase. The best guess I have as to what is happening is that the hemp bondage-ropes are setting off some kind of drug sniffing device that flags my luggage for indvidual inspection.

Also, though it has never happened to me, I have heard people say that screeners have stolden some intresting toy for themselves.

MaryT -> RE: Travelling with Toys (2/8/2007 8:50:55 AM)

I hadn't thought about the hemp.  Thanks.  Can you recommend a good substitute?

Thanks John and sexyone for the battery tip too.  [:)]

Fly with the hemp, I don't think I've ever heard of a case where hemp rope is mistaken for pot or for bomb residue. Just be sure to leave a copy of Midori's or the Two Knotty Boys books in there with it. Nope, it's just that our toys are odd shapes and sizes and more often then not, I don't think it's pure curiousity, it's that they have a job to do. Screening 10,000 bags a day you tend to know what bottles of shampoo, camera's, laptops, and clothing look like. But spreader bars, cuffs, cock rings, and other more extreme bondage toys leave them saying hmm... wonder what that is. Hell I know I've walked into Mr. S and said, hmm, wonder that that's for?

Fly with the hemp,

Heaven knows, that is my hope.

I understand, but I'd like to minimize the "by-hand" inspections.  I'm very possessive of my toys ... no TSA cooties if I can possibly prevent it.

Take the battery's out of anything that might vibrate or move. It removes the possibility that it might turn on and draw attention.

Vendaval -> RE: Travelling with Toys (2/8/2007 10:14:09 PM)

Just bust a move like Trinity and Neo did in "The Matrix".
Wear a long leather trenchcoat with all your gear strapped
to your legs and the holsters on your hips.  Try a camo
belt to hold all the various long, cylindrical objects and
tie the whips around your waist.

If the security goons want to handle anything, just
tell them all the equipment was freshly used and
not de-contaminated yet.  That makes them smile
and be more cooperative every damn time!

When I travel I pack my more intimate gear -ie strapon ,vibes,etc.- in ziplock baggies so they can see without having to touch (I am anal so I even label the damn bags! lol)
and my e-stim Erostek box I leave with the manual so that they can read what it is for.Same with any other less familiar toys.Better they think I am a perv than a terrorist!Removing all batteries helps.I also make a list and leave it on the top of everything, mark it as a copy,so they know that I know what I packed...maybe it keeps pilfering at bay, maybe not...again anal Mistress.

Last year I went from NYC to Houston.Kinky trip.....every layer in my suitcase had the "hand checked" slip on it,like six sheets in one suitcase! They made plenty sure I know they saw the hitachi, estim, strap on ,corset, latex ,bondage etc in my bag.

Yeah, I know I need to travel lighter, but it is so hard choosing!

enjoy your trip!

If your worried about the TSA handling the objects, just put them in clear bags, ziplock if small enough, then they can see but dont have to really touch. Also use TSA accepted locks, that way only a TSA agent can open them. Like previously mentioned remove your batteries. Also put any of your padlocks or handcuffs with a set of their keys (I usually also keep a set on my keyring on my person).Dont put anything breakable (canes, vibes etc) on the outer edge of your baggage.... I think its treated more gingerly by elephants playing football than airline security and baggage handlers.

Yes they like to look .... last time I flew to florida I had 9 "Personally inspected by TSA" tags in my luggage. As someone previously mentioned throw an instructional manual in with it if you are really worried. I use "Bondage for Sex" by Chanta Rose.

ArgoGeorgia -> RE: Travelling with Toys (2/18/2007 5:51:23 PM)

If you are extremely paranoid you can always ship your items - especially the more interesting and expensive items - UPS or Fed Ex to your destination.  If you insure the package then you shouldn't have any problems.  Hell, I trust those guys more than the airlines when it comes to not losing my stuff!

BootBlackBlast -> RE: Travelling with Toys (2/18/2007 8:54:46 PM)

Oh and the other thing I forgot to mention was that I love to pack my things in plastic bags with labels and then sometimes I'll even lay out all those plastic dildo and vibe bags in one of those large vacuum storage bags. Sometimes, for shits and giggles I'll put in a flyer or some business cards for those inquiring minds. Kind of like a "If you like what you see and it turns you on, contact me, and I'll help you find someone, something or somewhere to find what you are looking for.
