SirKenin -> World Trade Center movie (2/8/2007 12:34:37 AM)

This is old news now, but we are watching it on PPV.

In short...  It is terrible.  Pathetic.  Oliver Stone should be ashamed of himself.  He had a good idea, but completely destroyed it with horrifically shitty acting and overdoing everything.  All the human reactions are completely distorted out of proportion.  That one lippy son?  Completely overdone and out of line.  The reactions of that pregnant mother?  Just a WEEEE bit over the top.  Jesus appearing with a bottle of water?  WTF was that?  It is a complete writeoff.  It is still playing, but I do not know if I can continue watching it.

It did serve to remind me how important it is to get rid of those towelheaded extremist bastards that get off on doing horrible things like this though.

Movie directors or producers have towelheads? Why is their head a towel?

audioguy58 -> RE: World Trade Center movie (2/8/2007 1:08:08 AM)

The only solution for the "terrorism" problem is for the United States to stop terrorizing the world. How many times do we have to explain this to you people?

Sincerely,
Kevin

Oliver Stone has never made a good movie, why should he start making one now?

If you want a good movie to be made about 9/11, it won't be made by an American with American money because they would be crusified if they didn't show 9/11 in a vacuum. While the victims of the terrorist attacks were innocent, the US state wasn't and no American dare say that in a film, they just wouldn't survive the vitriol that would follow, maybe not even physically.

pahunkboy -> RE: World Trade Center movie (2/8/2007 6:57:37 AM)

9-11 was among the most profound days of our time.  American or not- the world changed that day=- and we all of reaping the effects.

My next door neighbor lost co-workers at the Pentagon. [his home here is a weekend home- he resides in VA]

I wont pay to see any 911 movies.  Hell- I lived the day- almost everyone here lived it. It was broadcast LIVE, mimally editeding and no commercials.

In an odd sort of way- the attack was successful-  bing Patriot act, Patriot 2.

and of course what plays in DC- sets precedent for other capitals. ouch.

agreed and stop forcing religious-governed nations to submit to our ideas of a demoncratic government.

While I respect your sentiments, I don't think the world did change on 9/11. At the time I thought it had like I guess many in the world thought it had, but on reflection, while it certainly seems to have changed for Americans, I don't think it changed for anyone else. As far as I can see it is business as usual.

Do you really believe that if the United States gave the Islamic fundamentalists everything they wanted, a complete U.S. withdrawal from the mid-East, cutting off all support for Israel, hell, even apologizing for the Crusades, that they would stop launching terrorist attacks? These people are fanatics. They are sadists. They enjoy inflicting death and pain on others. Their "religion" and all there complaints (real or imagined) against the west are nothing but excuses. Appeasement only encourages the aggressor.

Read The Project For The New American Century. American neocons had every intention of invading Iraq before 9/11. Look at American foreign policy over the last 50 years and you will see why there are not only fanatics that hate America but whole populations that have similar sentiments even if they don't act upon it.

Ask yourself why America bank rolls and gives such uncritical support to Israel and allows Israel to copy and sell on American weapons it is given under licence. Surely you don't believe it is because the USA is altruistic towards Israel. If it really wanted to do the right thing by Israel it could bring peace to the middle east tomorrow and isolate Islamic fanatics. Israel is a client state, a military foothold in the middle east and America won't vacate it while it has interests in the middle east which will be as long as it needs Arab oil. Once Arab oil has gone America will leave and Israel will have to look after itself.

i'm like George Carlin, i'm not that patriotic. i don't get teary-eyed when i hear the National Anthem, i don't get choked up over the the flag and the ground i walk on is simply that...ground. these are symbols and i leave symbols to the symbol-minded

yeh its called synthetic terror to scare us into WILLINGLY giving up our rights freedoms and liberties in the guise of big brother gonna take care of us.

We are becoming prisonors of our own country and begging for it!

Anyone who would give up their liberties for security deserves neither! ----Ben Franklin

I heard that Europeans view the Berlin wall coming down as their significant timeline.

The America as I know it- as my parents, grandparents know it- is in perril.
Not from the boogieman  terrorists- but via the erosion of our democracy. The USA, viewed itself as a beacon of light- a model for democracy.  An open, free, and transparent society.  We are experiencing fall out of 9-11. At times it reaks of Hitler and his rule.

The danger is this:

If Washington voids constitutional freedoms, human rights;  that is almost a signal to all capitols around the globe- that "it played in America, it can play here".

History repeats itself. Americans are ignorant in history and geography. In short- the world revolves around America- this is how Americans view the world.

2007, the wealthy top 1% of the world rule the world- hidden under corporations and [mostly] the USA. Notice how these people are never photgrpahed?

A grave danger exists for the middle class- in US and EU, [or elsewhere around the globe for that matter]

In the regard of globalization, it is business as usual. In regards to human rights- 9-11 effects every man woman and child on the planet. [with the possible exception of the wealthy top 1%]

See?

Being British i can say, things have certainly changed over here maybe not as suddenly as it did for America, but things have definately changed.

Being British myself but not living there, I can only assume if it has for Britain it is because Blair bought into all the neocon crap. Britain has always had terrorism of one sort or another as far as I can remember and I'm over 50. When I was growing up I remember Aden or some country wanting its independence, then Irish terrorism funded by Americans and now it is muslim terrorism funded by Saudis and Iranians. I'm trying to figure out what has changed other than Britain having a Prime Minister who bought into the paranoia crap where previous Prime Ministers would have nothing to do with it.

Because Israel is the sole democratic nation in the mid-east, is an ally, and was established and recognized legally by the United Nations.

Kosovo has no oil, yet we protected them. South Korea has no oil, but we continue to protect them. Japan has no natural resources at all, yet we protect them.
So I disagree with you that when oil is gone, so is the US.

Didn't see it...Jesus appearing with a bottle of water?  It's Hollywood, everything they do is over the top.  It's nothing new.
