I was reading the sub drop thread and was reminded how, when I was very new, I was glad to read that sub drop could be typical for folks since I thought I was being a drama queen at the time and that maybe I should take advamtage of my company's three free therapist sessions. (I could see myself starting the conversation, "I have this friend...." lol) Reading that conversation made me think of another occurrence for me after a scene and I wondered if anyone else had experienced it.

When I first felt a flogger, I thought it was awesome but had a terrible time with the level of pain it brought to my upper right back. It took a couple of months to build up the pain threshhold in that particular area ~ everywhere else was great. After the scene, usually just as I was drifting off to sleep that night (sometimes the next day at work), I would feel as if someone had struck me in that area. It was as if I was in the moment again and I actually felt the impact and resulting sensation. The first time it happened I nearly jumped clear off of the bed...okay, I almost fell off of the bed because I was right at the point of falling asleep. At work it was even funnier ~ I used the "someone must have walked over my grave..." excuse. Once my threshhold was increased these ghost sensations stopped, but they did make me giggle at the time and added to my happy mode.

The feelings were likely nerves. Nerves are a funny thing and noone works the same way. Sounds like you have some minor nerve damage and that was what you were feeling. As your tolerate increased...you don't feel the nerves anymore.

I often feel like there is two guys each with a 2 by 4 beating me....every breath in they crack my chest, every breath out the other one cracks my back....nothing much you can do but go on or give in.

Question I have for you...is do you miss the feelings now that they are gone?

OP, I get that nightly all over my body. For me, it is a variation of restless leg syndrome & yes it is connected to my nerve endings. You may want to go have a quick medical check, making sure you mention the sensations. When it hits me it is much like a static electric shock that goes thru the whole body. *therein lies the reason i wont try a tens unit lol*

tens might help you cj..........i use a tens pretty often.....now i won't go near a violet wand.

actually i did have one used on me for physical therapy several years ago. it HURT. lol. it really really hurt.

I have been using tens for over 30 years now....when they were really big things and in physical therapy....never gave me anything but relief...or nothing...helped or did nothing...lol never pain

Hope you do find something that helps tho.

Hi, hot1

I do miss it because it did make me smile. It was not a bad feeling, just a revisit of the sensation of one strike a few hours or a day following a scene. Also, that portion of my back has always been the most sensitive area ~ in a good way. <grins>

Criminey, a medical condition? That would suck. Doesn't it figure that things that feel or taste good are always bad for you?

Edited to add that I really like the violet wand after I got over my initial fear of a. you plug it in and 2. it makes noise, but have only experienced a tens unit briefly out of curiousity.

As an amputee, i have phantom sensation and phantom pain in my (no longer present) foot all the time. The phantom sensation is there all the time (i feel like my foot is still there, but it feels numb and i feel my foot wiggle when i flex my leg muscle, it just feels like it's been numbed with novocaine). The phantom pain happens frequently, but not every day and not for very long, fortunately, since the pain can be very strong. The intensity runs from a "pins and needles" feeling, like when your foot is "waking up" after falling asleep, to feeling like a nail is being hammered through my ankle or a knife is being stuck through my big toe. These pains are very real in how they hurt, even though there is physically nothing happening to me when i feel them and the parts of my body, that i am feeling the pain in, aren't there and haven't been there for over 5 years now. There is no definate explanation for what causes phantom pains, but there has been much written about this phenomenom, especially concerning amputees.

i have never had phantom pains from being whipped or flogged or any other BDSM activity.

I have had the phenomenon occur more frequently when i havent played in a while bascially my body decides it needs to be touched so it revisits the past nerve memories...to me it feels like a internal urge almost a twitch to me touched and fondled...but that is mearly my view on the subject
