It was an early Thanksgiving.  Turkey, cranberry sauce, string beans and mashed potatoes.

Usually?  Something I killed.  Occasionally?  Something I killed and actually bothered to cook much.  Tonight?  Ground beef patties with pepper jack cheese, tomatoes and pickles, plus a handful of raw veggies. Organic grass fed free range beef, originally bought on the hoof.  Doing my own meat processing makes a low carb diet easy, delicious and cheap.  Also healthful since I get to specify what my food has been eating.

Tomorrow?  A real rarity; I'm actually eating some meat I didn't butcher myself.  I'm off work so I get to cook fancy-pants gourmet.  Picked up the fixings for a "shabu shabu" Japanese dinner with tokoroten noodles, bok choy, white asparagus, yuzu sauce, "kurobuta" black Berkshire pork and Wagyu (Kobe) beef.  I may even cheat a bit on the low carb diet and enjoy one of the "imagawayaki" red bean cakes in the freezer.  Now that's some decadent luxury.

Soba noodles with tamari sauce, brown sugar and a little green onion. And tea, lots of tea.
