The War of 1812 was a disaster for both sides, and an epic waste for all involved. Nothing was gained, or lost. The Treaty of Ghent might as well have said, "Both of us are tired of getting killed for nothing, we all have the shits and all our Generals suck ... can we please hit the rewind button?"

That said, the original point was about the Royal Navy, which got their clock cleaned start to finish in that war. Even the huge British land victories in the early part of the war, were ruined by American naval victories on Lake Champlain.

You can still brag about Trafalgar though. [;)]

Well, in 1814  we took a little trip, along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty mississip

Sadly, the war as actually already over, and we were buddies again.

Meat and fargle will now claim that was a friendly fire incident, and blame President Bush.

But you are your own person, so I will let you tear this up.

Not worth the time.

I tried to explain that there was a big difference between supporting someone, and not participating in constant whining, that will not shave one fucking day off the term of the Bush administration. He didn't accept that, so I'm leaving him be.

The tasteless nature of his last comment, when made to a total stranger, confirm to me the wisdom of my decision. (as an aside, we are in big trouble when I start thinking I make wise decisions ... )

I don't know how to say this nice, but there is some vast chasm in our generations----------

I am at a loss

I've told you before Ron ... I understand roughly none percent of your posts ... but always enjoy them. [:D]

I think you're too smart for me ... I never know when you're flaming, praising, supporting or trashing me ... so I just pretend it's all nice.

This is computer addiction leasure time for me anyway. It's all good. [8|]

The ships in North America were the fag ends of the fleet and weren't commanded by the top admirals, the little problem with France was much more important. The real aim of the war for the USA was the annexation of Canada, the aim for Britain was the status quo. The outcome of the war was the status quo.

Does anyone know if Russia still owes the West $67 Billion Dollars?
About 4 years ago MSNBC reported that Putin bought a luxury villa on the French Riviera using U.S. Taxpayer dollars.

What countries owe eachother is so much as to be pretty irrelevent. If all the debts were called in the world economy would collapse and no one wants that.

Meat, I'll take that as a "yes."

So that's who got that villa I was dreaming over a few years ago! *just kidding*

Hey! I want my $67 Billion back!

Of course, we could always nuke them and let the Gods sort them out later......
