Okay, I have just come to the realization that it has finally hit me. For years I have felt that I resisted the age of gadget obsession. I never had to have a video game, don't know anything about them. I don't bother to attempt to keep up with the latest and greatest of computers, as long as mine works I am happy. I don't have an Ipod or a desire to get one. While I love to cook my kitchen is pretty basic, the microwave and programable crockpot are the most high tech gizmos in there, no food processor or anything like that. In fact I still use an on-the-stove percolator for my coffee because I like it best. When cell phones came out I resisted until work reqired it, always happy with just having one that worked, rarely getting a new one.

Until now. I succumbed. I got on the website to update my plan due to family members switching and running my bill up to triple digits and giving me a heart attack. Then because they keep track of such stuff they informed me that I was eligible for a brand new phone for FREE! Welllllll, having heard that before I didn't really see the need. Have been a wee bit envious of those lovely things that have something resembling keypads with internet access like my adult son walks around with but the truth is I don't NEED internet access all the time so it would be silly. BUT, if they were going to give me a brand new free phone who am I to argue.

Sooo, I begin to peruse the photos and descriptions of the various choices they offered me. Thinking, "why bother, they all look basically the same?" Then I saw it..........a beautiful dark red Cherry Chocolate. I was in gadget/gizmo lust. I had to have it. Why I don't know, it doesn't really DO anything my current phone already would, cept for a music feature and bluetooth which I have no need for. But it taunted me on my computer screen, dark red and glistening. I HAD to have it! Oh no, it was NOT free! To get this beautiful little red gem I was going to have to pay an addtional $30ish dollars. Now the Razr comes in red and would work just fine and be free but noooooooooo, I had to have the Cherry Chocolate. It was one of those irrational must haves. With a few taps on the keyboard it was on its way.

A few days went by and what did I find upon my return from a long day at work but a FedEx box in my garage. I rushed inside and slashed that box open. There is was in all its glory, MINE, alllllllllllllllll mine. It's been several days now and still I have to take it out and just admire it. I don't know how to operate half of the functions, I don't need to, I just like to look at it.

So, what is your biggest gadget/gizmo obsession??

I wanted a pink phone, you know, Barbie pink, but they never had them in stock and I finally thought, "everyone has my Barbie pink phone, I do not want it anymore"

What gadget is my favorite. Probably my PC. I spent quite a bit on it and it has the flat LCD. It was my gift to myself when I finished my BA degree, because I wore the old one out with school...that's my story and I am sticking to it... but my electric blue cell is nice too

I will tell you a little secret. I am dying to have one of those new Elmos, the one that lays down, rolls around on the floor giggling and then gets back up. It's my inner child, thats my story and I am sticking to it.

I don't think so. The one I saw didn't really dance. Just rolled around laughing uncontrollably.

I've just spent the last two hours trying to figure out hoe to get music onto mine, and I'm on the cusp of just pitching the damn thing. It's really testing my years of Apple loyalty!

My favorite gadget exists only in my sick imagination: a rotary cell phone.

As I habitually reached for it this morning I realized that I love it so much I don't even think of it as a gadget. The gift I gave myself last year at this time, my precious Canon digital 35mm and lenses. It cost me more money than I will admit to even most of my close friends but I would be lost without it.

It's not so much my phone, but the ability to text message. As a mom with teen who just got her first car it means we keep in touch even when she is with her friends and doesn't want to be othered talking to "her mother".  And i can send her a grocery list and make her stop on her way home for those things i always forget, hehe

I definitely have an obsession with PDA's and MP3 players. I think I have nearly ten MP3 players and four PDA's. For some reason when they advance them and come out with new little functions, I'll purchase the latest one. I never pay full price though....as I always purchase them on sale or with a big rebate. An iPod and Microsoft’s new one are two I don't have yet and will resist purchasing.

I also like some of the latest hi-tech multi-tools.

I love electro magnetics, and engines myself.

I intend to make A magnetized X frame strong enough to pull leg and wrist manacles to it.
I don't need to say much more then that.

bicycles.

First I got a mountain bike

then I got a racing bike. I liked that a lot mre

so then I needed a GOOD racing bike, so I got an Italian one . . . oooh pretty!

but it was so nice I decided I NEEDED a not quite so good bike I wouldn't mind getting caught in the rain or scratching when I tossed it in the back of my car, so I got a used one made in the factory by the greatest racer ever, Merckx

then I saw a good deal on an English touring bike, so I bought that

oh, and I needed a cyclocross bike too for some crazy races where you dismount and run over obstacles carrying the bike, then remount. FUN!

That it for now, though maybe some day I'll get a tandem too
