Just for the record, I'm not a fan of shaving and haven't done it in years - so I'm always smooth and soft to the touch...in that downy way. :)

Ok, you're about to hate me. Go out and get an epilator. http://www.epilady.com/ I'm not going to kid you.. it hurts. Even so, since I am deadly with a razor (am in the process of healing seven nasty razor cuts) I went out and paid the almost $50 price tag to get a machine I knew would be more suited for an extreme masochist. The first time, I'm not sure how I got through it.. oh scratch that.. yes I do.. *wicked grin* .. I had a date. Funny how that motivates you. Your first time doing your legs is going to probably take an hour, and the worst news is that you have to let the hair grow out some, so you're going to have stubble legs for a week. You'll get over it, I promise.

After you use the epilator, (I had to use it two days in a row, since I had some very stuborn hair) you will have baby soft, totally smooth legs. You use the device every few days to get new hairs that are starting to show up. Unless you take time off and let things grow back in, it will never be as awful as that first time again. After a few times, it becomes almost routine. Please keep in mind that I am a Domme, and do not like pain at all.. er.. I don't like pain for ME. Not only do I use it on my legs, I use it on my armpits. That one I'm going to tell you to try, but I expect you'll shy away from it. I just love how long my armpits stay satin smooth when I do it, so I suffer through. Armpits are suffer every time and never really get easier it seems.

Ingrown hair can be a problem with epilators (same as with wax) and you need to start using a loofa as part of your daily exfoliation routine on your legs. I've also been told that a product called "tendskin" http://www.tendskin.com/ is wonderful for the ingrowns, but haven't tried it yet.

not that i was asked...and i'm not talking about legs here...but i'm someone who used to love the shaved look...but now, if truth be told, it seems so many people shave either completely or trim to a degree, that for me, it's become passe....i much prefer a natural look on a woman...maybe it's because there are two Dommes i've been with who had a lush pelt in the pubic area...and both are wonderful women who i'd have done anything for...but here's a vote for going natural.

As far as what would be done with me...i don't have a personal preference, and even if i did...i'd believe that it wasn't my decision to make.

As always, your mileage may vary.

It's fantastic actually. And yes it does hurt but the results are indeed amazing. I've been using it for 6 years and I cannot go back to shaving.

I would recommend it for a bikini line if you are brave but my skin is very sensitive and I cannot venture too far inwards with it.

ShiftedJewel -> RE: Shaving. (3/12/2005 4:42:39 AM)

Ok, now don't laugh, this is true. I gave up shaving my legs after my son was born (1981) because I'm just no good at it. After his birth I had the infamous IUD inserted (that was before I realized that I would have a record breaking period because of it) and four (yes 4) months later it was nearly summer and I had finally stopped my period. Soooooo I jump into the shower with razor in hand and start shaving my legs... well, it took me forty-five minutes and half a box of bandaids to stop the bleeding from eleven different cuts. I genuinely wondered if I was gonna bleed to death. (under those circumstances you can't blame me) So I said screw this!! No more shaving the legs for me. The good news is.... My mom was right. Once I gave up the battle, so did the hair on my legs. I have NO hair on my upper legs at all and only a few stragglers down around my ankles (which my subbie takes care of with an electric shaver now). And yes, I tried those safety razors, the ones with little wires going across the blades... I can still cut myself with those.... epilady....... I don't think so... lol

Body sugering works extremely well if professionally done, and last for months.

Don't try the home methods. They hurt much more and work much less.

You can do this safely on all parts of the body, as long as you are willing to get on a table in the doggy position in front of a total stranger.

Get someone to drive you, and take a huge dose of Nyquil with muscle relaxer, about 30 minutes before. Thanks to my mom for the tip!

Professionals that do this, used to work for the Spanish Inquisition, and are well paid. Be ready to drop some coin.

The results are amazing. If they charged twice as much, it would still be worth it.

Old fashioned girl here....
warm water
clean blade
shaving cream, each needs to find what works on their skin
with grain
splash of cold water to close pores
towel dry
done.

just me

oops forgot to add...shave everyother day as religiuosly as a man shaves his face :)

songbird26 -> RE: Shaving. (3/13/2005 7:57:41 AM)

I prefer waxing. I've got super-sensitive, very dry skin, and I can hang on to a case of razor burn for up to three days after shaving (so bad that wearing jeans can be agony). I can get around this by soaking in a hot bath before shaving, but I don't have the time to do that regularly. Unfortunately, I've also got a ton of hair, so it's really a trade-off, but I'd rather have some hair in between waxing than skin that can't be touched AND stubble for days.

Legs, underarms, genitals, eyebrows, I get 'em all waxed. It's pricey, but SO worth it in terms of comfort, appearance and thoroughness. If you find a good waxer, hang on to her for LIFE. They're worth their weight in gold!

is that second area. Master plucked a few there the other day and it wasnt so bad. Is that pretty much what the epilady thingimajig is?

It's like plucking 100 hairs at a time instead of one. I don't know how sensitive your skin is. Mine is *ultra* sensitive. I can handle the pain technically (I have an extremely high tolerance for pain) but it's more that the skin on the pubis is more sensitive then in other areas and in my case, when I tried, the ripping out of the hair caused bleeding. Needless to say I didn't do that again. Then again, Beach says she does it on her armpits and the skin there is probably as tender as it is between your legs so it might work.

Go gently ;)

caela -> RE: Shaving. (3/13/2005 2:03:11 PM)

I have seen this topic on a couple of other message boards that I post too and since I didn't see it mentioned here I'll bring up a product called Magic. It's actually designed to be a hair removal product similar to Nair but for black men. On one of my boards the girls absolutely swear by it. It apparently comes in two varieties, normal, and for sensitive skin. The ingrediants in each are different though so if one doesn't work the other usually does. I am told that test patches are a MUST because no one wants a bad reaction to happen on their genitals.

My own personal preference is a hot shower, razor and my favorite shaving gel aptly named Coochy.

stef -> RE: Shaving. (3/13/2005 2:30:22 PM)

Magic Shaving Powder (and they now offer a couple of creme formulations as well) comes in a half dozen or so different types. Add my name to the list of those who use it semi-regularly and think it works quite well.

ravenna -> RE: Shaving. (3/14/2005 12:30:33 AM)

I have really thick, curly, black pubes, and if i shave in the morning i have itchy stubble by noon, so i haven't actually shaved my pussy very often, although i have had men who really got off on doing it for me, several times with a straight razor. i can't really comment on his technique, except to say that i closed my eyes and held my breath, and my clit and everything else survived intact, so i guess he did okay.

My owner now has me waxed completely bare every couple of weeks by a very nice discreet salon full of South American ladies who do a terrific job, and are by now totally blase about my pubic tattoo and my triangle piercing. They tell me they see lots of exotic sights in their job, in fact every time i go in i make them tell me everything they've seen recently! And yes, it hurts like hell, but it's over quick, it makes my pussy baby smooth, it lasts a long time, and pain is not exactly a limit for me anyway. My owner has been talking about learning how to do this at home just for "fun"! (Fun for whom, big fella? Oh, well, you're right, fun for both of us, i guess. Though i'd miss the ladies at the salon...)

More or less the same for me. Except I use soap. I've found the most important part is getting the area nice and warm first ~ so I get into a warm bath, then get out again and sit on the side to shave. I always go against the grain, using a disposable razor (Venus). I do it more or less every day but find that I need to give myself a day or so off every now and then ... after which the results are better.

littlebuttercup -> RE: Shaving. (3/14/2005 5:44:06 AM)

i don't shave anymore either.

when i did, i used shaving cream and one of those razors with the disposable head and i shaved in the shower against the grain. it worked fairly well.

darkpetal -> RE: Shaving. (3/14/2005 9:01:05 AM)

yup...nice products caela if your skin likes them.

tried both but my skin didnt. every skin needs something specific to their own chemistry ...yes i do think it is chemistry between the skin and product.

tis why i always suggest buying small bottles of something new each time until the specific one is found...well, tis what i did anyway.

never heard of body sugaring but have heard of epilady...way too painful for just me

liltxsubby -> RE: Shaving. (3/14/2005 7:18:04 PM)

hot bath, shave cream, disposable 3 blade razor. My hair is stubborn and the depilatory creams don't work. i shave with the grain, then against to get all the stragglers
