Awhile back, at a local group meeting, a friend introduced himself as a switch, but noted he was mostly sub, since he didn't have facial hair. Interestingly, of about forty people, every male dom had facial hair- every male sub was clean shaven...

Being a snowday in much of the country, I thought I'd drag this out for broader sample- ladies, feel free to vote for any SO that may fit in the catagories...

I am NOT saying that one must have lip fringes to be a dom, or that subs with mustaches are really switches, or any such rot!

I say who cares,
Thats a matter of personal preference and they go hand in hand with opinion, everybody has one...
But my personal preference is a dom with a little flavor saver.
Thats my 2 sense

A reliable way to sort one from the other, and to see at a glance who is a fake dominant and who is not!

Beard & Moustache - Genuine Dominant
Moustache only - Genuine Switch (Fake Dominant)
No face hair - Fake Dominant

I'm getting myself back to the Mistress boards now, to hawk adhesive beards and moustaches.....

I can't answer the poll as you left no choice for irrelivant.
I think facial hair has no bearing on sub or Dom men personally.
Now when it comes to genilte hair I agree most subs are shaven male or female, but again some Doms seem to fall into the new age metrosexual notion and also shave these days.
Again over all not all one way or the other as far as I'm thinking.
So my answer is None Of The Above.

Someone who has a lot of time on their hands should do a random test of profiles and see what they get as far as numbers.
I perfer clean-shaven and it seems there are a lot of Doms with facial hair. I thought perhaps I just noticed because it's something I always look for.

I have a chinstrap/goatee typa dealie.... Does that make me a dominant switch with sub/slave tendencies, or just a bearded lady?

Well ...I have a full beard and moustache and have never been called
Dom in my life. Of course, the beard is for winter, it can get darn cold up here.

April comes and off it goes.

Three out of the four I've met have had a range of facial hair. From stubble (yum) on one to goatees on the other two. Only one was clean shaven.

I never really thought about it before, but when I saw the question I started trying to remember. My first reaction to it was, "thats a silly thing to think", then I started going over all of the Doms I know and I think they all have facial hair of some type. It was a strange thing to realize all of the sudden. I don't think it has anything to do with them being Dom, but it is a bit strange. I personally am not a fan of facial hair, but I always end up with someone that has some sort of it. Maybe there aren't more that do, I just never realized how many men in the world had it. Sort of like the fat sub thing, only having to do with faces.

That's sort of how it was for me- when my friend said it, I thought "what's he talking about? that's silly...", but as I looked around the room, and since then, when I have thought of it, it really does seem to be the case (mostly)

FirmHandKY is clean shaven now, though he's recently had both a beard and then just a mustache. Personally, I like him clean shaven but it's only because I think it's a more complimentary look for him.

Now, if I could only convince him to wax... shaving him scares me!

My experience has been very few beards out there. Mostly clean shaven or with the most a mustache.

I'm thinking all the one's I've met have all been clean shaven, or stubbly, with one exception. Of the male submissives I've run accross, many of them have had mustaches, but not beards.

From what I understand, it was/is common practice, especially in the gay leather community, to have slaves/subs completely shaved, except maybe for their head (although some I see require this as well). I asked, but didn't demand, that a former submissive of mine shave his beard. He did and once he did, I demanded that he keep it that way. When he complained about having to shave every day, I gave him the option of no beard or a goatee and bald. Guess which he picked? Now that we are simply friends, he looks like a red-headed Grizzly Adams. LOL
