~Fast Reply~ For some of us, Valentines day is less about the commercialism, etc, and more about sentimental values. For me, Valentines day (and Christmas, Thanksgiving and yes, even St. Patricks day) holds a special memory in my heart of my father and being a small child. I was the only girl in the family, and the youngest. He made a bid deal particularly over those two holidays for me, and it was more special than even Christmas (which he also loved). Cards and chocolates on valentines day and a Card and some green carnations on St. Patricks Day, and I was always so excited to get them. He passed away when I was 11 (RIP)... we had a great relationship though, and I miss him almost daily. My mother continued the tradition after his death until she died when I was 18. So, holidays for me are very important. It's a way of not only taking time out of my busy life to appreciate the people around me, but also, pay tribute to my wonderful dad who was a big old teddy-bear softie (He was this tall/athletic american football-player build of a guy -- actually did play for the Army even; you never would have guessed he was so tender and sweet, but he was). I'm also a big sentimental goof ball... LOL. With that said, I really don't have any plans for Valentines day with my Papi because he's in Chile at the moment, and I'm in Boston waiting for the end of February to come so he gets back here. edited to add: Happy Valentines Day everybody [sm=flowers.gif]
