for all the Coinstar users, you can avoid the fee by getting a gift card instead of cash. It has to be a genuine Coinstar machine though, alot of groceries, like mine, have their own machines.

We use our spare change for emergencies.

am i the only one who actually likes to roll coins? i always have, since a child.
i must be completely geeky. i have a piggy bank for silver change, a cow bank for pennies, and a wish jar for extra state quarters, since i already have the whole collection thing going on in a book. alright, in five books. i think i now have to add this to the list of things that are wrong with me.

I have a small coin rolling machine that I got cheapo at a garage sale... I roll the coins up about every six months and then we use the money for something fun.

No, I kinda like it too. You really feel your money somehow, and it's oddly meditative.

I sort them when I need money
Like the time when I needed a new gas tank for the bike.......

Oh, I forgot, a friend of mine saves all her quarters for her "Casino Runs" [;)]

I have a big whiskey bottle I put my change in and roll it up when I need money.

Hottiegurl -> RE: What do you do with coins? (2/14/2007 9:37:50 PM)

[:-]I looked at the poll and could not choose just one.  Laundry? Only when doing King Size comforters.  Casino? god I wish.  State quarters get put in a safe place I have five books going too.  Mostly they get used for those bubble gum machines that go around and around and around while your kids get sick watching it and you are tapping your feet going at least when we were young getting a gum ball was faster!

LeMis -> RE: What do you do with coins? (2/14/2007 10:18:47 PM)

I use them usually, sometimes I toss all my change into a jar
BUT SOMEBODY always finds it and swipes it [>:] GRRRRRRRRR!!

Oh, I think that's the most imaginative answer yet!

Why thank you...smiles

RobertCloud -> RE: What do you do with coins? (2/18/2007 7:29:52 AM)

Spend them most of the time, though I do save some, and always hold on to at least 3 quarters for that pesky tire air machine... I cannot believe that most places charge 75 cents for air.

Majik -> RE: What do you do with coins? (2/18/2007 6:49:24 PM)

I have a HUGE piggy bank I got at a yard sale about 20 years ago. It can hold about 50 pounds of coins. I just ususally put all my change into that. Doesn't take me long to fill it up either. Usually empty it and roll about every 18 or so months. Last time it netted me over $400...which I spent promply at victoria secrets.

Oh and I'm one of those who sees coinage on the ground  I will pick it up. One of the pitfalls of being born poor...you tend to hoard every penny.

laundry..... and attacking the dog when he is sleeping..... watch him jump when you get close with a coin..

Thanks, everyone! It was really interesting to read your replies, and I appreciated learning about CoinStar.

FullCircle -> RE: What do you do with coins? (2/25/2007 9:00:52 AM)

I liked to annoy bus drivers with them. I can’t do that anymore though they keep making rules against my fun.

SubShyButFlirty -> RE: What do you do with coins? (2/25/2007 9:04:41 AM)

sometimes use them to make the correct change

sometimes toss in a container until full, then roll and deposit in savings

ElectraGlide -> RE: What do you do with coins? (2/25/2007 11:20:58 AM)

When you walk by the Cointar machine look in the bottom tray where the rejected coins go. Coinstar machines reject old silver coins, foreign coins, tokens, steel pennies and anything it dont recognize. People just leave them in there and go, people that collect coins I know get lucky and snatch them up. If anybody wants to see my photo coin gallery send me a message and I will send you the link. I tried to post it in the forums but it wont let me.
