Of the corporate media- Stan Chanbers started KTLA tv- the 1st tv station in the west, 60 years ago. He still does feel good stories at his very old age. His grandson Jammie Chambers is a reporter. To solve some confusion here. I grew up in Chicago, now live in small town PA. I subscribe to KTLA- it runs $1.50 a month. via satilite- they also have a website. Their star anchor is Hal Fishman. He has background in polical science. His commentaries are worth the $1.50 alone. This man is not eye candy!! But his mind is incredable. His commentaries weather or not you agree are thought provoking- and not the mush of regular corp media. This is as good as it gets for commercial tv. Keep in mind he isnt Amy Goodman, or Bill Moyers. But for commecial TV- he rocks! Add to that the razzle dazzle tinseltown mode of LA- and the 10 pm news is at times awesome, at times an escape. Being a native Chicagoan- we are rivals with New york. So by my upbringing- anything new york can do Chicago can do better, Hence the nic name "windy city"- wind as in boastfull- not the lake effect wind- which yes- it is windy in terms of weather. During the 80-s LA bumped Chicago- as 2nd city. HUH! How dareeeeeeee they. lol. During the movie era- hollywood tried to set up in Chicago. The mayor said no- we want real jobs- so they moved on to LA- making LA what it is today. A dream factory of sorts. However- in recent years- the Rodney King riots, the OJ case- and HUGE population migration to LA- things are changing there. Be that as it may- long live Hal Fishman, one of my heros. :-)
