Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone knew any effective methods to get rid of hickeys (love bites/suck marks) quicker?
I have very pale skin so whenever I have a hickey it stays there for weeks and my foundation isnt strong enough to cover it (because I am so white).

So please... any suggestions?

P.S. I dont think 'just don't get hickeys' is much of an option, they just dont listen. :P

Um... you should explain it to them a little better. I took a good look at your pic and think you should point out to them that you are a regal creature and that your beauty should not be marred with such petty markings.

A hickey is just a bruise under the skin and in my experience, only time will cause it to fade away.  However, some swear by the following tricks:

There's a cream and pills in your local health food stores called Arnica
that helps you heal bruises faster.

I too am very white and have very delicate skin. I bruise easily too.
Initially I was concerned about play marks and used this product in pill form to help.
LOL now I just enjoy the bruising so much I would not do anything to make them go away faster.
For me it would be like putting a dozen roses in my dryer or something.

Arnica oil or gel is good to help bruises. Even so, it's not going to go away in a day...or even two.

Arnica, and massage the area to help get the blood released.

I'm the same way- so I generally only get hickies in not obviously viewable places.  And if one is viewable on occasion..hey I'm an adult with a happy sex life, what are they gonna say?

If i remember right i used to use regular toothpaste, the paste not the gel and it seemed to help in healing them quicker. Now it doesn't matter since for one it just reminds me of the fun i had getting them when i see them and then again at work i wear a high neck chef coat so not one sees them.

i heard that ice helps. Haven't tried it though. i'm not one that usually favors hicky's in obvious spots.

However, like LA said, if it happens then "hey I'm an adult with a happy sex life, what are they gonna say?"

i'm seeing someone this weekend and she loveeeeees to mark me! (i admitt i actually really like it) i have a feeling i will be coming home with a collage on my neck, back, thighs etc.. lol!! It's a good thing its cold. i'll just wear turtlenecks..LOL! [8D]

I normally wouldnt have a problem with hickeys if i didnt have a massive night of fun-ness with this guy i like, who didnt give me the hickey :P.

Oh well, i'll manage.

Thanks for all the advice, might hunt down that arnica stuff... Its been 3 days and its still too visible.. and its too hot to wear high necked clothes!

I've used Arnica ointment as well as the Homeopathic pills taken together seems to speed it along (I also get bruises pretty easily).

I also find that the green coverup on under foundation and then setting it with powder helps to hide them for me.

Well for me if they were in a obvious spot i used massaging the area with ice seemed to speed the healing along.  Sometimes being so fair skinned in not so desriable.

Totally agree with those who have recommended arnica for the treatment of bruises.
Personally I have found that Aloe Vera gel massaged in regularly helps with the healing process. Have found it reduces the healing time by around 30%.

Hun, if I had a remedy for that, I'd be in heaven.  Sorry I can't help, I guess just wear turtlenecks till it goes away...

arnica creme, immediate ice after, wear only the bra, no one will ever notice your neck, things like that.  Ignore it and live with it, and nobody will actually say anything at the garage, you are not the first to have a hood come down on you.

Ice always helped on mine, and the fact that I was forever burning myself with the damn curling iron. I was soo clumsy when I was a teenager. It is amazing that I am not scarred for life..

i personally opt for warm compresses....it increases the flow of blood to the area there by permitting a quicker lessening of the pooled blood to the area....think of it  when you twist an ankle...fir th you put ice to stop the swelling then you put heat to increase the circulation...same principle!

good luck to you..I to have the blue skin issue   Im so white my skin looks blue and well a hickey just developes by being looked at an areaof my body  i swear!

You could tell people what my Master tells people when I get a little frisky and give him one, tell them it is a muffler burn...lol...might not work tho if you don't work on cars...
