Yes, there is a lot not so great, but there's some pretty talented fanfic writers out there.  I enjoyed them (haven't indulged for a while).  No shame there.  I *LOVED* Buffy and Firefly but discovered them both late in their lives and saw most of Firefly from the DVD collection.  I've seen some good fanfic based on Buf but not so much with Firefly.  I think it's interesting that certain shows have such a following in BDSM crowds. [:)]

Topcat - that was a hoot.  Thanks for the link.

Dear Mary-

You're quite welcome!

I don't seek out fanfic, though I read some when I crash into it, careening around the intrawebs. I came across sisabets work when I was learning to use premiere, and I just loved it.

While not slash, Firefly lovers should check out this:

I have never written slash fic or explicit erotica, but I did write a fanfic series about a romantically involved superhero couple in which it was clear their sexual practices involved bdsm.

Please tell me I'm not alone here. And yes, if you like to read about Hermione tying up and beating Harry Potter, you count as well. No "fandom" discrimination here, to BtVS and Angel are my only indulgences. You'd think I'd like Firefly porn too but I haven't found any that strikes my fancy.

I read and write Star Wars fanfic that involves sex and BDSM.  :)  So no, you're not alone!

I've written a bit of WoW fanfic too, and am always looking for more - care to trade stories? *hopeful look* The work-in-progress that I've got going for the Horde side of things can be found here: http://biglizard.kicks-ass.net/jax/letters_to_lydia/letters_to_lydia.html

Regarding the OP, I've been a avid reader of fanfic, particularly slashfic, since I discovered the stuff existed - Harry Potter is of course a big one but there's also the Pirates of the Carribiean, which I have just horribly misspelled, there's Joss's bunch of begging-to-be-ficced series, heck, even old video games have caught my eye (there's some really great Link bdsm smut out there, and ff3 too).

I think that the reason we see more kinkfic than 'nillafic is that the 'nillafic writers feel like they are risking some sort of copyright infringement, or that the characters can do 'nillafic stuff on their own, or that frankly, most of the 'nillafic writers are abysmal... turn to the kinky side of things and no one really worries about copyrights because you KNOW that either the original author will NEVAROMG dare look at what you just wrote two innocent characters doing... or the author is reading your fic and cheering, wishing there was a market for just such a thing.

As far as 'the characters do plenty of normal stuff already', take Harry Potter - I read Harry/Draco slashfic because there are tantalizing hints of it in the books but you know Rowling is never going to have Harry actually show up with Draco on a leash in her next book. Hermione and Ron kissing? That, she might write, so why go to fanfic looking for it? It's easy to look at a cast of characters, turn their interactions into extremes rather than hints, and find ideas and scenes that make you desperate for a pen and paper to write 'em down. It's not so easy to look at the cast and try to come up with, say "Harry Potter and the Sock He Lost In The Wash Last Tuesday" and make it interesting.

Meh. I love fanfic, consider it a guilty pleasure, and squee almost as much over a good ficlet or plot bunny from a favorite fanfic author as I did over the original movie/book/whatever. I've got a collection of links and even a few stories saved up, mostly other peoples' stuff but some that I've written too, and I'd love to see everyone else's favorite fanfics!

Sure, PM me an email address and I'll send it to you.  I don't have it posted anywhere.

Jorjia32 -> RE: BDSM Fanfiction (2/19/2007 6:22:58 AM)

I don't write fanfic but I do write stories that are BDSM themes and I wanted to comment here because of your line,  "why are all these fanfic authors so preverted???"  I know the more stories I wrote the more extreme I got.  It just seem like every story had to out do the last one.  I ended up researching things that didn't interest me just to keep them fresh.
But outside of the stories it seems to me that the more years one spends in the lifestyle the more extreme their fantasies get, perhaps not what one actually does, but what one dreams about.

Of course, no problem. Glad you asked cause I was probably assuming too much.

Fanfic, short for Fan Fiction, is writing that's done by fans of a movie, tv show, or even pre-existing literary work, using the characters already established by the original work. To use an easy example, you know the NBC show "Will & Grace" ? Well, someone might write a story about Will and Grace falling in love and getting married and having kids. Or more likely, Will and some other man fucking their brains out while Grace stands over them with a whip. Shows like Buffy that are in the sort of sci-fi/fantasy genre tend to be the most common recipients of fanfic. Star Trek was a really early one, possibly the first time 2 "straight" characters (Kirk and Spock) were "slashed" (which means to turn them into raging homosexuals, hehe...)

Ahh....Star Trek..of course.  my youngest male replicant is an avid Star Trekker fan who devotes much time and effort to reading anything about them, no matter who the author is, his first website at the age of 9 was only about StarTrek.  I like the term..and as i thought fairly simple and clear.  Firefly was the only show i hadn't heard of, but then i'm not a s/f buff but sounds interesting enough i'm going to go look see what I can find.  (1984, Brave New World and Staranger in a Strange New Land are about all i've read in this genre.)

I really love these forums -- always learning something new in all areas of life.

Thanks DominaS, Celest, and all the rest who were kind enough to answer my questions.  Y'all are dolls. :)

cheers
jk

MasterC70 -> RE: BDSM Fanfiction (2/19/2007 7:21:56 AM)

I don't know if they count as fanfiction but www.bdsmcafe.com/stories/main.html has some stories that may be of interest.  Short stories and longer ones.  Enjoy.
