It's been too long since I've seen a Jimmy Buffett / Coral Reefer Band show.

Wolf1020 -> RE: Favorite Beer/Booze/Guilty Pleasure? (2/15/2007 8:23:20 PM)

I'm really not a beer person I just don't have much of a taste for it.  Yuengling is decent enough though, as is rolling rock.  Those are about the only two brands of beer that I can honestly say I enjoy.  Hefwisse (type of beer not brand) is a wheat beer that is unfiltered, its pretty good as well.

Hard cider is very good though the problem is finding one that is actually hard cider and not some mixture of god knwos what mixed together to kinda taste like apple JUICE (propblem with many ciders in general is its juice not cider damnit!) with some fizz and pop.  Making your own hard cidar isn't hard, all you need to do it just leave a jug sit in the fridge for awhile and it will do its own thing lol. Mead is good stuff.

I do enjoy a good simple red wine that isn't to horribly tannic, I like them more mellow.  Jack, Jim, and Jose are all good friends of mine when I am in a drinking mood.

Scumble

An alcoholic beverage drunk in very small cups some months apart (or served to strangers in pint mugs, as a sort of initiation test).

It was first introduced in Mort which tells us:

"A lot of stories are told about scumble, and how it is made out on the damp marshes, according to ancient recipes passed down rather unsteadily from father to son. It's not true about the rats, or the snakes' heads, or the lead shot. The one about the dead sheep is a complete fabrication. We can lay to rest all the variants of the one about the trouser button. But the one about not letting it come into contact with metal is absolutely true..."

It is a parody of scrumpy and is made with apples. Well, mainly apples. Good scumble apples include the Lancre Blackheart, the Golden Disagreeable and the Green Billet. In Mort it was drunk on the Sto Plains, but in later books it is associated with Lancre, where it is distilled by Nanny Ogg (whose particular variant is known as "Suicider").

When scumble is mixed with dwarfish beer, it creates a highly intoxicating cocktail known as "Fluff".

First off, ignore my age... :)

I'm not a fan of beer or most wines, but I enjoy border buttermilks (tequila, crushed ice, and pink lemonade), hard cider, and peppermint schnapps with chocolate syrup chasers. I don't know if there is a name for it, but I've made a mixed drink with pineapple captain morgan's rum, peach schnapps, and sprite, and it was absolutely amazing (1 shot rum, 2 shot schnapps, majority of a can of sprite, mix and serve either with ice or all components having been chilled).

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Favorite Beer/Booze/Guilty Pleasure? (2/15/2007 9:11:20 PM)

No alcohol here, but my guilty pleasure is Strawberry Blondes from Coldstone Creamery- strawberry ice cream mashed and mixed with real strawberries, graham crackers, caramel and whipped cream.

LOL Curious my partner has a notorious story about him, a bottle of peppermint schnapps and the bathroom.  Granted, he was a college youngin when it happened.

But your drink sounds PERFECT for him, he loves all of those ingredients and it sounds like a delicious mix!  Thanks.

ORIGINAL: sensualmagirl... and I also like "Berliner Wasser" in the summer (I am not sure how it's spelled), basically an ale mixed with a lemon/lime soda... I had it in Germany, hits the spot when it's hot outside.

Stateside, and in the UK, that would be a Shandy- properly made with ale and lemonade, or a Gaff Shandy, made with ginger ale or lemon/lime soda,instead of lemonade. Perfect for those days when you are so hot and dry that you'll be drinking alot...

Or in Ontario, where a Shandy might get you Molson's and Tomato Juice.

No...I'm not making that up.

For partying ... almost any girly shot: killer koolaid, electric watermellon, fuzzy navel, purple gecko. I prefer the bang for the buck, when I'm not paying ... and with enough bucks spent, someone can possibly get banged.

For killing bad memories ... half a Demo, and SKYY Berry. Effective, if a little dangerous.

DomKen -> RE: Favorite Beer/Booze/Guilty Pleasure? (2/15/2007 10:09:56 PM)

I'm a big fan of a local brewery, Goose Island, and drink either their stuff or some Euro imports when I drink beer. The Honkers and 312 varieties from Goose Island are particular favorites.

For spirits I've long been a single malt scotch man. They can enormously expensive but they'll make you wonder why you ever drank any other whiskey.

Recently I've been trying some of these new small distillery tequilas. The oak cask aged tequilas make a mighty nice drink to sip and enjoy slowly.

Wines are much simpler. Basically anything California better than EJG or most of the imports.

Real0ne -> RE: Favorite Beer/Booze/Guilty Pleasure? (2/15/2007 11:12:50 PM)

There are only a rare couple commercial beers that i really enjoy.  first is a good marzen (spaten oktoberfest) brew or chimay is good as well.

Other than that i like pretty much any well balanced malt/hop home brew made with a blend of vienna, munich, and pilsner malts, and also a blemd of tet and haller two row hops as long as its reasonably flavor balanced.

UtopianRanger -> RE: Favorite Beer/Booze/Guilty Pleasure? (2/15/2007 11:31:46 PM)

I really like Stella and I'm a shot drinker who likes Rumplemans or Sambuka chased by 100 proof Hot Damn. I also like a good Long Island or a lil' Stoli and OJ. I never get outa control though. And I always call a cab.

NorthernGent -> RE: Favorite Beer/Booze/Guilty Pleasure? (2/16/2007 12:01:03 AM)

I'm not a fan of lagers at all. The likes of Stella, Heineken etc (known here as lagers rather than beers) are like piss i.e. water, gas and flavouring. Nor am I a wine, alcopops or spirits drinker. Having said that the Czechs do half decent lagers e.g. staropramen (more royal piss than peasant piss but still not fit to tie the shoelaces of British ales).

We have a right old selection of real ales over here. My current favourite is Flat Cap, brewed by Bank Top brewery in Bolton. Also, like Landlord, Champion and loads of others. For those interested in real ale, here's a link to British beer festivals where you can sample anything upto 450 ales over a few days. I've been to a fair few in the North - you get some weIrd and wonderful ales that are sold only in the village they are brewed and at festivals (none of this mass produced bollocks).

Ad nauseam......

This is the first post where I now think that I haven't had half the experiences as y'all....

I don't particularily like sweet.  I'll down a whole bottle of Bailey's and other Irish Creams, as well as Scotch (all the variations as my wallet affords) Stout dark beers and watered down light beers, red wines, sherrys, ports.....

I even from time to time concede to the rich fuck buying everyone 'his' drink at the bar just to taste his pleasure.

But for me and my money, I will stick to Corona with lime, J&B or Johnny Walker, "what's on tap" and a whole plethora of Scotch alternatives, wine, port, sherry, and even on a bad night succumb to Yager and drinks that are a whole phrase of what you want to do tonight: "Sex on the beach", "Blowjob", "Nasty Betty with VD" and so forth.

LOL.

Anyone drink that?
