Lordandmaster -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/15/2007 11:14:51 PM)

The long red fingernails always make me think a woman just clawed someone's balls off.

I'm not big on purple or black (I'm not really interested in fucking Morticia Addams), but I like nice pinks, browns, stuff in the nice feminine fuck-me range.

touchthesky -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/15/2007 11:17:37 PM)

other colors could work too. variety is the spice of life

FukinTroll -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/15/2007 11:18:46 PM)

azzmaster -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/15/2007 11:34:36 PM)

julietsierra -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/16/2007 12:50:54 AM)

Pink would never work for me! Nor would the browns and all that. Brown of any sort does not look good on me - regardless whether it's clothes, shoes or nail polish. I wear a LOT of red. I have red hair. I wear red lipstick. Pink would clash.

But I do try to be spontaneous and carefree regarding my choices in nail polish colors (sorry, no black and purple, that's a bit TOO carefree and spontaneous to me - not to mention that it hits about a 10 in my "omg that's so ugly - go wash that ink off your hands!!" scoreboard)

So, in the interests of spontaneity and such, I wear "I'm not really a waitress red" by OPI. Sometimes I change it up by choosing "Peruby Ruby" by OPI, and every now and then, I wear "Red Ribbons" by OPI.

If I'm not wearing any of those, I have my nails done in a french manicure.

Oh yea, I should say that my spontaneity follows the lines of the seasons. I'm not really a waitress in the fall and winter, Peruby Ruby in the spring and summer, and Red Ribbons just cause I want something "different."

The french..well, that's for when I'm a bit tired of the red - doesn't happen very often.

The difference between gaudy, trashy and just plain nice though is the length and shape of the nails, and shape is largely an age thing.

Most young women end up squaring off their nails. We're talking very young women. Some older women do as well, but I find that more often than not, those who are a bit older tend to steer clear of very long nails (we have lives that include doing the wash, and long nails break easily when lifting jeans out of the washer) and they steer clear of the squared off versions of nail styles.

Mine are of medium length. They do extend past the tips of my fingers but not so much as to be a hinderance when doing household chores. They are oval shaped. Oval is a difficult shape to achieve, so most nail techs hate doing those.

I've  been going to my nail person now for 8 years. I am more her friend these days than I am her client. My nails are as real as I can pay for. Even so, I receive many compliments on my nails and am asked often how I get them to grow so nicely. So, I'd say they look natural.

Besides... red nails on fair skin, wrapped around darker skin is just plain breathtaking to me. I like the color combinations. All those paler colors just wouldn't be so pretty.

I loved my dark red nails and I miss my acrylics :-(.

Favorite colors:   Changing of the Garnet by OPI, On Your Knees by China Glaze.

missturbation -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/16/2007 6:46:01 AM)

Nothing like acrylics done properly with a french polish.

I have to say I've got extraordinary nails. I don't know how but they just grow into a perfect shape and super quickly too. Last year I went for my *gasp* first manicure & well, big disappointment lol. I never learned how to properly file them & I was hoping to watch and learn. However the guy just slapped color on then dried them :(
Yeah it sounds moronic but I seriously do not know how to file them. They grow, then I cut them. Kinda like my hair now that I think about it.
I need girly help!!!
Opi Cameo Role is the only polish I own.

AquaticSub -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/16/2007 7:04:29 AM)

Meh. I can't have long nails. They bite into my hands when I make fists and I'm not giving up my martial arts.

Lashra -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/16/2007 7:04:35 AM)

I love my natural, long red and black nails. I use them the claw the hell out of my sub lol I've had them every color of the rainbow except browns/white/yellows, I can't stand those colors. I like reds, blacks, hot pinks, purples. My favorite polish is OPI and that is what my nail tech uses on them.

Luckily I don't have to swing a hammer anymore and I can keep them nice and pretty. [:)]

BRNaughtyAngel -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/16/2007 7:52:41 AM)

My nails are natural and about medium/long in length.  The longer they get, the more prone to breaking, so I will file them down once they get too long.  I have very long fingers, so when I break a nail, it looks like I've lost the tip of my finger. [;)]  I don't really file them to a particular shape, but let them grow how they will and just file a little to keep them from snagging, etc.... some naturally square off and others kinda oval.

I keep them either buffed to a natural shine or use a clear or light neutral pearl color on them.  I don't use color colors on them because I prefer subtle and because I wouldn't want to have to constantly change colors based on what I was wearing.

Now my toes may get more color in the warmer months, but I still try to go with something more neutral so I don't have to change it often.

SimplyMichael -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/16/2007 8:14:33 AM)

I prefer natural nails over acrylics as the feel when they are scratching my back is much better.  It is amazing how few women do spend the time to take of their nails.  That is something I require of my women and if necessary, yes I will pay for it.

As for red, love it, the whole black/goth thing can do it for me too.

Valyraen -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/16/2007 8:37:21 AM)

I'm one of those few unfortunates who can't get his nails to break - ever. They've grown long enough to draw blood in the past, but I generally keep them short enough that they don't bite into my palms when I curl my fingers. That said, I've gotten bored in the past and painted my nails, and I've found that my skin tone and coloration (auburn hair with green/hazel eyes, fair skin) favors deep greens and blues. However, I prefer unlacquered or clear-polished nails to colors... still not quite sure why.

MasterMataeo -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/16/2007 8:38:09 AM)

Nails real not fake ,, anycolor,,   and i have found that the color relates to the way she is feeling and her wanton wants and desires,, even though at times  it mean nothing at all about the color  ,, but more offten than not it does,, as for me  give me the nails down my back and make me twinge when i say it's okay,,,  kinda tickles at times ya know

Unfortunately I've found this to be true - I do a better job on my own natural nails than I get in the "cheap" salons.   I do regularly go to the salon to get pedicures (every 2-3 weeks), but every time I treat myself to a manicure, I usually end up regretting having spent the money.   You may, or may not, get a few pointers by going to good spa for a manicure.

It's not difficult to learn how to do your own cuticles, and there are some great buffers available that will give a great shine to natural nails.  Include a sea salt scrub for your hands and you're all set.

OedipusRexIt -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/16/2007 8:44:12 AM)

I'm for nails!

Long red ones, short black ones, filed purple ones, and the ten-penny galvanized ones too!!!

I'm of the opinion that a woman's nails, like claws serve a purpose both as a sexual attraction cue to my primeval maleness, and as a handy, goes-anywhere bdsm toy!

And then there are those nine-inch nails.... yum

Dreamz423 -> RE: and another thing! Long red fingernails (2/16/2007 9:03:31 AM)

Fingernails, that was my first fetish (yup, I have more the one- lol) -Allthough I had not thought about this in some time, I recently was discussing the very topic;
At the age of about 12 - I was walking through a large department store and caught a glimpse of a woman at the make-up counter applying some nail polish, a dark crimson color. She had far longer than "average" nails - an attractive woman, probably nearly old enough to have children of my own age. I found myself instantly mesmorized by her applying the polish. I was allways brought up well-mannored so I didn't stop and stare (allthough I wanted to very much) I didn't understand what or why - I just knew that I liked it. I must have walked past her at the counter 5 times in the following few minutes - absolutely intoxicated by the whole thing - to this day, even a small odor of nail polish can cause my heartrate to increase. - So most any color, me likey!

Hey,

I am surprised so many kinksters have long nails. They look nice, but are so impractical.
I used to have long, salon done nails and they were very high maintence.

I like my neat, polished, moderately short fingernails. This year all the fashion mags show short dark painted nails. Chic!

With long talons: I found it is almost impossible to - give a good massage, press small keys like on a cell phone, wash your ears, finger fuck without stabbing, catch a ball, make a fist,  be sporty and active.

Short, yet pretty nails are most useful for a slave, in my opinion.
