MadameDahlia -> Can We Do This? (3/14/2005 12:03:08 PM)

I'd like to post a small chunk of an email I got the other day because I recognize it as a copy and paste email. The same person emailed me from another site and offered the exact same words. I'm curious if I leave out personal information might I be allowed to post it?

I'm not saying So-and-Such is a spamming loon - but are there any other problems with doing this?

Guest -> RE: Can We Do This? (3/14/2005 12:18:23 PM)

Including their personal information is obviously against the TOS, but cutting and pasting the text of an email keeping the sender anonymous is allowable, though many may (and probably will) argue it is in bad taste. Dealing with that backlash is up to you <g>

As far as spammers, cut n paste predators and other schmucks prevalant on any internet site, the best advice I can give you as both a moderator and a member of CM (and several other similar sites) is to block them and move on. Not worth the time or energy IMO.

Hmm... -ponders- I figured if all personal info was pulled from the email it would be kosher.

Alrighty, if someone actually wants to know what the wan... err... winner wrote I'll post. Otherwise I've already blocked and happily skipped in the opposite direction.

LOL, it's Kosher. Though I'm sure someone will take issue with it <g>

Possibly. I'm just not sure why.

If I'm telling the truth (which I am!) and I post something (sans personal information) and someone else gets the same email they'll know who I'm talking about and they can decide for themselves if they want to deal with a copy/paste informal letter.

If I'm not telling the truth (Moi? Lie? Pshaw!) then no one will get the same email and no one will have to worry about it.

Seems fairly cut and dry in my head. Do you know of any reasons someone might take offense or start anything icky on the boards about it? I'd rather not spark a war of words if I can avoid it.

Honestly Dahlia, I can't figure out why some take offense at alot of things, alas, some just do.

I don't know why it would spark offense, but I really don't see the point. There's tons of cross-posters, form-letter senders out there. One more won't make a difference and it makes it look more like you've

a) got nothing better to do

b) have some specific grudge against someone

c) can't just let one random email go

Obviously they are just sending stuff out to see what gets hit and what doesn't. We're independent adults, we shouldn't be scared of responding or not responding to an email and we SHOULD be able to determine if it's an interesting email for us or not without having to refer to a "notorious form letter sender." Trying to save the sub community one email at a time is an interesting endeavor, but ultimately it still comes down to your own tastes and preferences.

I'm curious, and yes it would remind me to delete that if I ever got it. M

I don't take issue with it, but I won't participate. My personal opinion is that it's in bad taste and bring an air of *yuck* to the boards.

You have wonderful things to post MadameDahlia! Please share some of the brilliant thoughts in your head rather then the not so brilliant cut & paste of a wanker you will have forgotten by Friday.

*edited to get rid of a typo (I never said all!)

MadameDahlia -> RE: Can We Do This? (3/15/2005 12:17:05 AM)

-laughs- Well... I don't know about wonderful... opinionated, oh yes very much so. But I think wonderful would be stretching it a bit. For those interested I'll email a copy of the letter to them so that they can arm themselves with anti-wanker knowledge. And for those who couldn't give a fig will be spared. I think that works out well for everyone.

Well it is, after all, only my opinion ;)

One thing I also thought of- I just don't like how it reinforces and supports the idea that subs are so mindless and naive that they can't even screen their own emails without help. That they need to be warned from something SO harmless and silly.

No wonder they feel they aren't safe going out to a public place on their own.

MsSilvie -> RE: Can We Do This? (3/15/2005 10:13:33 AM)

Geesh, if you cut and paste it into a forum post, then every spamming loon will be sending it out next week!!!

MadameDahlia -> RE: Can We Do This? (3/15/2005 10:38:59 AM)

EmeraldSlave2 - the email was sent to me by a male who said he wished to submit to my various body parts (hypnotic gaze, etc.). I'm actually trying to keep the Dominant Ladies abreast of his cut and paste ways.

However when I stop to think about it I realize that anyone can realize it's a chain letter. His text is aligned to the left and he hasn't bothered to correct it. He has numerous spelling and grammatical errors, which would turn most Dominas off. And he talks about how the woman he's sending the message to could put him (or anyone for that matter) into a mental hospital with her dark powers.

He also mentions being married in his email twice... as if once wasn't enough he stresses the fact. Perhaps he is seeking to start an argument with Dominant Ladies so that they will continue to send him emails. But that could be over analyzing things.

MsSilvie - How right you are... And how sad that is. Sometimes you run across a gem hidden amidst so much clutter. But when people think of this as just a bunch of crazies having wild orgy/swinger parties you're bound to run into the wankers, losers and hngs.

Not all people who have orgies and are swingers are crazy. Please mind the judgement calls and respect others kinks my dear.

I don't think she was making a judgment here, LA. Sounds like she was talking about how other people might perceive kinksters who aren't very well educated about such things.

MadameDahlia -> RE: Can We Do This? (3/16/2005 8:18:02 AM)

Thank you indydomme for making clear what I had not. That was indeed my intention.

NATI -> RE: Can We Do This? (3/16/2005 8:21:33 AM)

Spammers are pretty obviously spammers. Since I've been here I have responded to exactly one. I thought his email warranted a response because he simply sounded inexperienced. I told him to quit sending canned emails, and he replied with a very polite thank you. All of the rest have gone bye-bye. I don't see a reason to post it here. It would not offend me, but I do get enough of them in my email as it is.
