petdave -> A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 6:47:27 AM)

Let me preface this by saying:
  • i know it's not productive to criticize other people's kinks (and believe me, i've been on the receiving end)...
  • you're free to do whatever you want, and if i don't like it, i know i don't have to read it...
  • and i know nobody gives a damn what i think...

buuuuuuuttttt....

It seems to me that in the past few years, the "Daddy Dom" segment of the scene has really exploded, and i just can't keep it in any longer:

Referring to your sex partner as "Daddy" just creeps me right the fuck out.

Can i get an Amen? Anyone?

Shields up,

...dave

Nope, no amen from me on two counts. I'm atheist and don't amen anything.
If I had to catagorise my dom, he would be a daddy dom.
It is understandable that it squicks you out though, at one time it totally freaked and disturbed me lol.

sensualmagirl -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 7:14:51 AM)

doesn't creep me out so much at all... sounds kind of sweet, and I can see where it comes from.

However, I could never call someone "Daddy" probably because my father died when I was 11 and I was still calling him that at the time.

Now, my Master is my "Papi" which, I think, is somewhat similar to people, but, not to us so much.  He told me it's a term of endearment in Spanish language, and he loves it... I didn't grow up speaking the language, he did... so, it took a little while getting used to it... and now, I love it too [:)]

And who’s the one guy that you come runnin’ to
When your lovelife starts tumblin’?
I got the money if you got the honey
Let’s cut a deal let’s make a plan
Who’s your daddy.....

Toby Keith weighs in on the topic.

As I said before, it does creep me out.  I have one set of parents.  I will not call anyone else Mommy or Daddy.

sexyone4you -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 7:44:48 AM)

I have noticed a lot more Doms calling themselves "Daddy" lately.  I can see where it would freak you out, but I can't jump on board with you.  As long as you aren' hurting anyone else, do what you feel.

topcat -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 7:45:48 AM)

I never heard the term- even in the gay scene- until 1995 or so, and while I have become accustom to it over the years, it did squick me a bit, when I first encountered it. I find it odd that I resist the term so strongly, when it's been applied to me, though I do have a certain nuturing streak...

The sort of light-hearted 'who's your daddy?' or 'ai- papi' use doesn't bat my eye- never did, but when it seems to be the only framework of a relationship, it still gives me pause.

VeryMercurial -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 7:57:06 AM)

Thank you topcat, I do not mean to offend, and it may be something I never understand.
We will have quirks that others don't understand, but if I had children that called me daddy....
It would feel odd to me, but we all like what we like.
Those that use the Daddy/daughter thing seem to like it, so it works for them.  :)

windchymes -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 8:13:50 AM)

I might jokingly say "Sugar Daddy" or something like that, but I don't see myself ever referring to any type of sex or relationship partner as "Daddy" on a regular basis.  I'm not at all into the Daddy/daughter roleplaying, THAT squicks me out.  Maybe next-door neighbor's Daddy, but not my own, lol.  Something about sharing my own DNA....

I think that Spanish "Ai-Papi" thing is really cute, though.

domiguy -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 8:21:32 AM)

Yes I can't tell you how many nice visits I get from The CPD when my neighbors frantically dial 911 after hearing me yelling, " Baby daughter suck my cock."

tangldupinblue -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 8:36:04 AM)

i had never used to name Daddy before until he asked me a questions and i answered yes...he said yes what....and thats what can out of my mouth. we dont have an age thing going nor does he treat me like a child, far from it, he expects more from me then anyone ever has in my life.maybe it has something to do with the fact that while growing up my father worked two and three jobs so while liveing in the same house we had very little contact.

either way i'd never call him anyhing else....it comforts me.

VeryMercurial -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 8:36:21 AM)

Now this is funny.  I always wonder if the daughter slips and calls him Daddy in front of relatives or
at some other improper time.

Rumtiger -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 8:38:24 AM)

figures it would take another Dave.

Amen!

tangldupinblue -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 8:39:56 AM)

i did.....in front of his wife....thank god i had the child of the man standing next to him in my arms at the time.

VeryMercurial -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 9:18:23 AM)

Oops you did it again. :)

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 10:07:01 AM)

Daddy ....Daddy ...Daddy

i love how it rolls off my tongue whenever i say His name. plus it's fun freaking out people in public when i say "Hi, Daddy" if He calls me on the mobile phone. even though my real father is alive and well, i don't have the close connection with him like i do with my Daddy.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: A different kind of "does anyone else?" question (2/16/2007 10:14:20 AM)

You're right no one cares if you're grossed out.
