...I wanted to say hello because a few things have changed for me this week and I feel kind of...new.
1) I've had some fun posting on the boards
2) I've chatted with someone I like a lot who seems to like me. Even though there is barely a chance that it will go anywhere in r/l, talking to him makes me happy
3) I discovered that even though everybody here on the boards seems to know exactly what s/he is looking for, it's ok that I don't. It's ok to be my age and still working it out. A man says to me, "Do you need a 'daddy,' or would you be attracted to a tall, confident, smart, stable, loving, nurturing man?" Probably doesn't seem like a revelation to anybody else, but to ME? Wow! Yeah, there are men like that who don't call themselves daddies, and yeah, I'm attracted. Feels like a whole new planet just became available for my colonization. And the fact that one of the denizens of that planet is attracted to me? Allllllllll-right!
4) I found out you don't have to start where you're going to end up in a relationship. It's ok if you like some things and he likes others. Two people who want to be with each other will find the things that work for them. The profiles (like mine) that seem like lists of "I won'ts" are really just methods for helping ourselves be seen and found. After that, bring the table to Paris, because negotiations have begun.
5) Someone wrote in a thread: "The hardest part of submission is submitting." That made me feel a little like I did when the first word I read came together and was a word.
6) I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer around here, but I don't have to be. I can learn.
