You raise an excellent point, igor. In the case of my large pieces, I planned them so that if I didn't want to show them off, I simply choose a dress or outfit that is Not backless, and has sleeves. If I want to show them off, I'll go backless and wear a sleeveless dress or top.

I have 2 tatts so far, one on my left shoulderblade and one on my left hip. I have pics of them in my profile pics. On my shoulder is a bleeding heart with wings and on my hip is a wolf head and rose.

I have tried for over 2 years for CM to accept the pic of my tat... it was refused each and every time.  So I took off my other pic as well.
I designed it.... at the encouragment of the ex- dom.  My favorite flower and his demand of me.

I too agree with Igor on this matter...........which is exactly why if i decide to "dress to the Nines" none of my ink shows except the one on my lower right leg.........its very pretty script and just looks like an interesting anklet.......

when i was 21, back before dial telephones, i decided i wanted tattoos...however, since i was just a youngster, i wanted to wait until i was older, since i had no clue who i would be then...after 20+ years, the desire had never waned, so i got my first one for my daughter's 19th birthday...i had a rather extensive collection of flamingos by then, so the tattoo is of a flamingo with red-lensed heart-shaped Lolita glasses...when i went to Maui, i decided i would get my second one there...this time i got an hibiscus vine across the top of my right shoulder & curving downward with a butterfly flying toward it...i wanted a spider waiting for the butterfly, but that was vetoed by my lover at the time...i think now is a great time to get that added  [:)]

My plan is to get a hello kitty tattoo on the back of my right shoulder.  Everyone who knows me associates me with hello kitty so its a natural choice.

i have one, an original piece of art that was based on the fabric of a dress in a project i was involved in a few years back. it symbolizes several things to me...one is that someone took a chance on my abilities, and i succeeded with the job offered to me, and the other is that is symbolizes an evolution in my life. noone would know this by looking at it, which makes it all the more special to me. to look at, it is a rather french, curvy design that stands out by its sheer beauty of the artists work. when i had it done, the other artists in the parlor kept coming in the room to watch him work. he told me that they were very curious to see how he would accomplish such a finely detailed piece....which he did quite successfully. i was honored to find out that he rarely tattoos anymore, only taking on projects that appeal to him aesthetically and spiritually.

one was covered, or repaired, they are a thistle; to sybolize my heritage, that from which i came. then there is a pentagram on my right arm; my spiritial marking, for where i shall go. and then a belly ring, so i can look down and be reminded beauty can follow from suffering.  i draw flash, and held to belief for a long time that one should only alter the body for deep personal meaning, but have grown to learn that the pain can be reason enough. hehe, and then there is that whole addictive factor...
