If anyone cares to share, how does one get into this stuff? Do Y/you just wake up one morning and decide to have pancakes with a side of kink? :) I am attempting to look into myself and figure out how I(i?) got here. Any feedback would be great.

You come here, read. Listen, take in only what you care to. You are an individual and your partner is out there who happens to mesh quite nicely with you.
It may take year's to find that person. Week's, no telling how long in reality.

There is no one set way. If there were none of us would have the freedom to partake in the lifestyle today. It started out in the gay community. So, if the rules did not become lax so to speak none of us would be here.

Read, talk and take in some munches. Get to know some real life people.
Participate when you can and if you cannot find the answer don't be afraid to ask more questions. It is your life you're talking about. You definately deserve to have your questions answered.

I don't exactly remember 'getting in to it', seems like I was always there, one way or another. Always had a thing for jodhpurs and riding boots, Mrs Peel, pirates (I like your moniker...), motorcycle jackets (motorcycles are okay too), Zorro, dog collars, stockings and garter belts, damsels in distress... by the time I was in high school I had fairly well developed tastes, but I didn't know anything about 'the scene'. Just kind of made things up as I went along- then discovered John Willie, Sweet Gwendoline- and finally had a name for it.

This is pretty familiar to me. I always new, somehow, that I´m submissive, and that my "other half" should be dominant to make things work between us. But, I was born and raised in a catholic country (not really a catholic or religious person my self), so, this kind of lifestyle is obsolete. It really doesn´t exists here. I knew it existed, but thanks to t.v. and cable signal.
That´s why I never dare to do anything about it, and just keeping it as a far future possibility or just as a crazy thought.

Now that I just have met someone (northamerican) involved in the lifestyle, I have learn about it and getting every day more curious and excited.

The one thing I'd add is don't be in a hurry. Take your time, be aware of your mind/body and don't allow anyone to pressure you into anything.

it's not the pancakes with the side of kink but what you do with the butter..LOL..:)

One of my earliest memories was getting an unusual hotness from some wrestling we did as kids. LOL. I think it was just an accumulation of experiences that made me excited, as I learnt about my sexuality as a child and young adult.

I had lots of fun in many previous relationships with tying up, spankings and cold water torture, and golden showers ~ but none of my previous partners was really into it. Then I met my Master online and oh... sounds unlikely I suppose but it all fell together there.

Because there was a whole other part of me that wanted to please people, and that had always got me into trouble in previous relationships ~ for various reasons not really relevant to the question. Now suddenly... the two parts came together and everything made sense for the first time at 41. A non-abusive relationship which included ALL my favourite things ~ YES!!!

I've always known it was there...before I had a name for it.
Personally, I think it's genetic in my case. I see submission in my father, and in my sister, and my mother is quite dominant, though the rest of my family seems neutral.
I have always deferred to any strong male I was close too, and at 15, expected my boyfriend to spank me to make me behave in a suitable manner. I demanded he control my bratty behaviour, it was proof in my eyes that he loved me. This was long before the internet or my having any knowledge of power exchange.
Everyone has their one reality, however. This is just my experience.

Greetings pirate.

I couldn't say an exact time, as its something I have always known... I was but an infant when I first had feelings which I can comprehend as placing me where I am today. I was 14 ish when I met people involved in the Life. Unlike some, my parents are not Lifestylers. I met my Lover married nearly 16 yrs ago and have been involved ever since. I have made mistakes... big ones... but that is how we learn. Take your time...ask questions as none are silly or invalid... never feel ashamed.... learn to be yourself and accept your kinks and desires. Then You can move on to the 'next step'. Don't be in a rush because this is probably the most beautiful journey you will ever take.

I always enyoyed to tie up my dolls, or myself as a child, an the first time i begun to think of sex, was when reading a novel, and the main charecter had sex for the first time, this hurt her, and as i read the description i grew interested in painfull sex.
