There seems to be only one "known" when speaking of ratios... there are not many lifestyle dominas. There are many pro femdoms, but there are few dominas looking to own their submissives... a lot less than male subs.

While there is no census of BDSM people, I can share the stats for the orientation of the core members of my munch group.

14 male Dominants
1 male submissives
1 male slave (collared by and married to his Domme)
1 male switch

3 female Dominants
10 female submissives
2 female slaves (collared by and married to their Dom)
1 female switch

Out of those people, there are 7 couples and the rest are singles. We do have other people who show up, but not regularly. (Yes, we have a large munch group.) Considering there are a lot more male subs in the lifestyle than represented by how many attend munches, I don't know how much stock to put in the stats of our group.

I'll also say that most of us are involved in the het scene, I think there might be some differences if we add in the homosexual scene.

There are no way to get accurate stats. Someone suggested only using people in the public scene to get statistics from. But there are a lot more of us who don't do anything public. Me? I look like every other soccer mom with a minivan. Nobody else's business what our private relationship is like.

And what about the people who don't post and don't click on polls yet are hoping to meet someone compatible through ordinary means; church, friends, volunteering. Because they don't answer surveys they don't exist in the statistics yet their very refusal to get involved in anything public such as answering a survey skews the stats.
