And I don't know about peanut butter and mayo...but kids will make peanut butter and butter sandwiches, replacing the higher fat content that the FDA takes out. I can handle peanut butter and pickles, its the mayo I can't quite cope with. I have to agree, though, fluffernutters are man's final triumph in the world of culinary arts.
