I picked Angel's collar.  He only wears it when I request him to do so, so his outside life didnt have to be considered.  Outside, he is not physically collared. If it is going to be something she wears all the time, you might want to let her have a say in it, to make sure it will not be seen as a drastic change and something that gets questions.  If it is a private ting, then hatever you want, will do.

I would let the submissive describe something she would 1) like and 2) feel comfortable wearing out in public.  I'm not in to publicly humiliating my friends and lovers by making them wear big spiked dog collars during board meetings. LOL

After I received their input, I might take it into consideration and then pick out something that I liked.

My question is.. is this an actual collaring or are you talking about just something to keep you in her mind.

In a tradional collaring the Dominant selects the collar, gives it and retains ownership of it. If the unthinkable should happen and the collaring is dissolved, the collar should be returned to the Dominant.

I'm pulling this from another post I did the other day, because it is germane to yours also.
We have a collar from this place and highly recommend it. You can see photos of it on http://beachmystress.femdommesociety.com/dommephotoalbum.php I just moved five photos near the top of the page. The first two show his collar in daily wear situations. The third photo was taken to show his collar and first cuff together. The last two just show the cuff up close while not worn and the clasp of the collar. The collar looks like jewelry because it IS jewelry. It is made from chain you choose http://www.firescale.com/silver-chains.pdf (we went for the regular curb chain with snake eye screws) and the special clasp made by the seller. The rings attaching the clasp are welded shut, so removing the collar without the tool means breaking it.

I've always liked the idea of a bracelet for 'daily' public wear.  And, for some reason, probably just the guy in me, nothin' says lovin' like cold-rolled locking steel. lol

I'm not fond of the idea of having one collar as the collar in some super-meaningful sense.  Most people would like multiple collars -- a 'stealth' collar or two for public venues, and more blatant, fetishy collars for play.  If you make one of them a special token, then the others, by exclusion, aren't.  Better, in my mind, to choose something else for a discreet mark of ownership, and then have all the collars your pervy little hearts desire.

I would think the owner would be the one who would choose the collar.  It is a sign of the slave's status as a slave after all.  This site http://www.daycollar.com/ has some interesting ones that look to be fairly discreet in look, and they are all within a good price range too.  They even do some custom work though only in leather (no metal collars) at this time according to the site.

Greetings E/everyone,
      This slave has been with its Master nearly a year and for birthday/Christmas Master took His property out and bought its final collar. W/we had been looking at collars for a long time and slave had had 2 other collars but Master and slave both desired a permanent collar.
     Master knew what kind His slave wanted/needed, but it was His decision, His choice. Although, had Master wished for His slave to pick the collar, that too would have been His choice.
     This being an "alternative" life-style, each situation is different and must develope its own "rules" methods, whatever fits the needs for that M/s relationship. Master and this slave agree, by choosing to live an alterantive life style W/we've choosen to live as W/we choose. There are no owners manuals for slaves. Live as You will, as You need too be and follow Your Master, not some unknown person that decided to write some rules.

always? interesting.

i would rather let Daddy decide which collar is suitable for my neck yet i get to chose how i wear them. for example i only wear my leatther one with lace (princess collar) when i'm in public and my metal wedding "ring" when i'm looking not my best or at home. my new collar (coming soon) will only be worn for playtime. besides Daddy has excellent choices in picking my collars.

Why not have two, a leather one for the bedroom and a piece of jewelry for everyday wear.  The everyday wear would be nice for snuggly moments throughout the day/evening such as running a finger across it to remember even more 'snuggly' moments in the bedroom and the leather one for 'no really, we are gonna play tonight!' moments.

As it's the Masters collar, I think you should pick it. I beleive that there should always be some sign of ownership worn, either a collar, ankle cuff, belly chain etc... There are many very artistic and beautifully jewelly style collars and bracelets available... Have fun choosing!
