I am not a big chocolate fan but when it's that time of the month I love to eat my chocolate. I have found recently that whenever I eat chocolate I break out with pimples and feel blah...can you develop an allergy later in life even after eating something like forever? Sounds kinda weird to me since we grew up on chocolate lol

Yes, you can become allergic to something at any time during your life.

lots of women break out from hormones around the time of their period, whether they eat chocolate or not. I've found that I am more sensitive to everything I eat since I turned 40.

That is a good point.  Pimples are not the same thing as hives.

When it's the time for the curse for me I get the same two pimples in the same two places regardless if I eat chocolate or not, I don't crave chocolate around the time of the month, but I know what you mean. It's a proven fact that chocolate does not cause the outbreaks. Hormones cause the outbreaks. And here is a tip. If you eat one cup of dark chocolate a day it helps stabalize your matabolism. I know my spelling really reeks please pardon me. lol

You can develop allergies anytime during your life. They can be contact allergies (ie become allergic to certain soaps, latex, etc...) or food (common one seems to be strawberries & seafood). The contact ones can range from hive like reactions, breakouts, to excessively dry skin (aka contact dermatitis) which will peel & crack if not taken care of. Food ones tend to cause hives and/or breathing problems (related to hives? I'm not that familiar with food allergies, so take what I type with a grain of salt if you want definatives).

Allergy sufferers of the world, UNITE!   (We'll sneeze the bad gov'ts out of office )

Yes, contact and injested triggers can both cause hives.
Inhaled allergens can trigger asthma.

As other's have already stated it is more than likely the hormonal change than it is the chocolate.
Recently studies have found chocolate is probably more beneficial to a person than we ever thought possible in the past.  In more than one way.
Not so sure about eating a cup a day.  The last study I read was something like a half an ounce a day....yes the dark is better.
