There was recently a thread about this, and I was going to post the other day, but my local session timed out, that is people showed up so I closed it out. Well here it is.

First of all you never know when you get timed out, it may vary PC to PC or day to day, who knows. I have typed for an hour and all was well, but then a quickie doesn't get through sometimes. It can take some time to compose and type, and BELIEVE me, I know how frustrating it can be to lose it all.

But I have a solution.

First of all, always open up the [Post Reply] window. Don't use fastreply, it locks up on some PCs, why ? Who cares, we want this shit to work. And fastreply is not faster anyway.

Do this.

Write your post, once you are happy with it and about to hit send, STOP. RIGHT click anywhere in the body of your text. The box that opens will have 'Select All', click that. All your text should turn blue, actually white on blue with Windows default colors.

Now Hold down the Ctrl key and hit the letter C. Then hit OK.

If your session has timed out, just get the hell out and get right back into CM, get where you want to be to post, whether it is a reply or a new one, get the mouse cursor in the text window where you are supposed to type. Left click once to make sure. The cursor is there, once the cursor is there hold down the Ctrl key and hit the V.

Ctrl+C stored the selected contents in RAM, uses a swapfile if needed, but it wouldn't be here.

Ctrl+V reads the contents of that sequestered RAM to whatever can accept it. You can also drop it into Word for printing or whatever. For printing you can do the select all and change the size of all the text in one fell swoop, stuff like that.

But the major point is about blogs, newsgroups and like CM, it can piss you off to lose all your typing. Just do what I said and you'll be fine.

Select All
Ctrl+C
Ctrl+V

that simple.

If I have a long post that I put a lot of energy into I write it in word and then copy and paste it. I have internet connection issues and lose my DSL all the time... so I make sure I do not lose my posts now.

When this happens to me. I right click the mouse and click "back". It will show what you wrote. Then I copy it, and open a new window, and resubmit.

This works in firefox, I assume IE would be the same.

It might work in Firefox, but it does not in IE.

Thank you for this information, Termyn8or.
I use IE rather than Firefox for Collar Me because
Firefox interprets the page formatting incorrectly
and certain functions do not operate.

Not sure why this is, I think it is most likely a browser
compatability problem.
