*jumps to attention and awaits Sergeant Vendavals scrutinous inspection, she clip clops close to him and puts her face right into his, he answers 'SIR YES SIR BOOTS WILL BE GLEAMING SIR!'

Vendaval -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/15/2007 2:06:04 PM)

Once they are cleaned, crawl on you knees over to Sari and put them on her feet.
She may permit you to kiss the boots if she finds you worthy!

I want this room cleaned top to bottom.
You have 2 hours to accomplish this task.

A bit sticky???? You call THIS a BIT STICKY?????????????? demonn we need to have a talk on the cruise thread over this one!

bludemonn -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/15/2007 2:51:20 PM)

You prefer us to talk on the cruise thread Miss Sari? anything you say.

SweetSarijane -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/15/2007 3:44:48 PM)

Now do you see why it had to be on the cruise thread? Couldn't just break with our fine tradition over there and do the marking here now could I?

bludemonn -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/16/2007 4:01:38 AM)

Yes you could!! you could you could you could!! You are forgetting the nature of this thread!

bludemonn -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/21/2007 11:44:56 AM)

If anyone ever finds this thread again i'd like to know your opinions on the types of 'posters' on forums, are people capable of objective debate or are they cursed by their own opinionated egos therefore argumentative and thus counter productive to the original questions?

bearincuffs -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/21/2007 11:58:31 AM)

The answer would be both. many people are well capable of having a debate without ego and/or prejudices interferring. There are others who for reasons of their own are not able to debate without having their emotions over rule their logical thinking.

SweetSarijane -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/21/2007 12:28:28 PM)

I agree with bear on it being both and I think that's subjective. I also think that how you respond to a topic greatly depends on your connection to it. Several variables such as is it something you're experienced in/with? Is it a trigger to a painful
episode(s)? Is it a subject that interests you from a more detached or intellectual perspective? The variables are endless. I'm not greatly ego driven as a rule and I tend overall to stay away from or do not respond on topics or threads that do or could push my buttons.

I see a lot of the ego and opinionated posting around here and to me it seems to usually be counterproductive to the thread. I also see those who can productively add to a thread/question. Any forum I've been on has a mix of the various types of posters. You can always find the good, the bad and the ugly wherever you go.

The nature of this thread is marking you???? [8D]

bludemonn -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/21/2007 1:01:15 PM)

Do you feel there ought to be a way to lock the thread so that only invited members may post, thus stopping people from popping on and adding inflammatory remarks then leaving never to be seen again?

SweetSarijane -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/21/2007 1:11:14 PM)

Not necessarily, but there are a lot of instances where certain very nasty, inflammatory posts should be removed and the poster "talked to" by mods and I don't mean just on this site. I don't like curtailing free speech which what you mention would do, but removing posts that cross the line is a bit different as well as locking a thread period when it degrades badly to a flame fest.

bludemonn -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/21/2007 1:36:56 PM)

I actually think by giving people respect to begin with you will always attract abusers who cannot control themselves, i understand this all too well and i do think its part of human nature that people react when they read something they find sensitive that another may not.

I would think in the future that forums will have a special feature on them where people can be eliminated by the OP (i know there is a way that mods can allow only certain people to post).

SweetSarijane -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/21/2007 2:55:05 PM)

Now that would be an interesting thing to see and test, though I'm not sure if it would work well in the long run....thinking abuse of it for posters simply not liked by the thread OP.

bludemonn -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/21/2007 3:27:41 PM)

well that would be down to the threshold of the OP but it would safeguard the topic in question woudlnt it?

SweetSarijane -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/21/2007 6:03:37 PM)

Possibly yes. It's one of those that could go either way though. Maybe more to the integrity of the OP as to whether it'd be abused or not.

bludemonn -> RE: Devils Advocate (3/21/2007 6:11:37 PM)

and so it should be [:)]
