You can talk the talk but can you walk the walk?

When was the last time Al Gore used public transpertation?

When was the last time Al Gore decided not to fly in a private jet or helecopter?

Does Al Gore own a Hybrid, fully electric, Hydrogen, or solar powered car? Is his personal Limo a Hybrid or fully electic?

What is it with all these celebrities, actors, rich people, etc... telling the world how to live when they can't even follow there own advice?

Put up or shut up. If global warming is really a problem caused by humans, then why can't the hollywood rich and others who bitch hire there own mechanics to make better cars and such for the environment? After all, they have the money. Why will they not pull together there resources and make it happen rather than bitch bitch bitch about what fans and the the middle class are not doing?

If Hollywood really cared, I would think the actors would have all came together in mass buses instead of individual limos. You'd think they would have atleast car pooled but I guess that's asking to much for someone who will speak about polution and global warming but not actually do anything about it. So I guess it's really not a problem after all.

I think your being petty.
Your also making alot of assumptions.
You say hes not following his own advice but actually he is. Do you have anything which proves he isnt?
I think trying to inform the masses  alone about a situation is "doing something about it".
I don't understand why him trying to make a difference before its too late makes you angry.
I think even if the small percent of rich people lived 100% earth friendly lives and the middle class and poor continued to life such wastefull environmentally assulting lifestyles we would still be in trouble.

Before what's too late?

The best way to control the majority is with fear. "If we don't do this and this, then it's the end for us all." Gore's trying to make a difference is not to help man kind. It's his escape goat from not becoming president and a way to stay in a political spot light.

We have over six thousand years of documented history where the earth naturaly has rising and falling temperatures. We've had droughts, dust bowls, floods, storms, and other environmental changes all without mans help.

The bla bla bla we've been hearing for the last seven years is an effort to control and not to help.

One tiny little specific.............Al Gore uses an average of 12 times the electricity of the average American household........in a house 4 times larger than the average American home. And that includes his so-called solar energy panels..

Just a bit of food for thought.......................

Why doesn't Al use teleconferencing to get "his message"across? I mean, it sure seems counter to his "truth" to be flying all over to tell people they should conserve
fuel. LOL  I mean really, Al invented the internet, surely he could make use of it. -Michael

Maybe all of you should have facts before you open your mouths....do you know why Al Gores energy bill is higher?

"The power coming into their residence is green, renewable power," she said, explaining that the Gores participate in a program called Green Power Switch, which is run through the public Tennessee Valley Authority. Green Power Switch supplies energy from renewable sources to its members.
Kreider added that a renovation of the Gores' house is underway to make it more energy efficient, an update that will include the addition of solar panels.

The Washington Post....March 1, 2007 .

And he's been on that 'green power' system for a whole three months.  The spin machine is really cranking up to cover his hypocrisy and the 'liberal elite' are going to give us all a demonstration of just how brainwashed they are as they regurgitate every little factoid.

With his money (much of it from big oil), Al could be doing a lot more.  He could have been doing a lot more for a long time, but like most of his kind, he'd prefer that the lesser beings actually make the sacrifices.

I hope not, hybrids, full electrics and solar cars are LESS enviornmentally freindly overall than a dinofuel powered equivalent.

Anything using batteries, all that plastic casing, the heavy metals, the acid content, not to mention the life expectancy! As for pure electric, all that does is move a pollution source from the tail pipe to the generating plant.

Sure all may well be more carbon friendly, but the environment is much bigger than the carbon cycle

Please cite, I have found reports that can prove he has been paying extra for the last few months but nothing that confirms he only signed up for this program so recently. On the other hand three months is better than no months which lets face it is longer than I imagine most folks have been subscribing to any similar program.:)

Do we not have better things to bitch about?

The reality of this is that while he may very well not be following his own advice, he is using his status and reaching people who are changing their habits as a result. It seems the problem most people have is that it seems celebrities claiming to support a cause are just being hypocritical/doing it for other motives/etc, and while that is true, these people make up such a small percentage of the population, their habits don't really matter in the bigger picture because they are convincing others to change. There's nothing we can really do about it, so why complain?

Or perhaps I'm just trying to be too optimistic?

I swear when I saw this thing going by on the top of the page I paused and tried to figure out what being Gorean had to do with the enviroment.

I spend way too much time here...

Al Gore helps to get the message across to the masses.  True.  Unfortunately, the message is not necessarily based in reality and not backed up by his actions or the others who support it.  So what if he uses all "Green" power at 12x the national average?  It's still gluttonous activity.  He also buys "carbon credits" to help make sure he is carbon neutral.

Is anyone else reminded of the "indulgences" that the church back in history had?  You know - the rich would sin, but give money to the church in order to be forgiven.  Meanwhile, the poor would be punished since they couldn't afford to pay these indulgences.  Global Warming is simply the new church for these folks, they preach a message to us of living in sackcloth and suffering to save our environmental souls while smiling down upon us from their mountain of waste and making 'documentary' films to enlighten us poor folk.

Do I think global warming is occuring?  Sure.  It happens after every ice age.  Then it gets cold again.  Do I believe in the anthropogenic cause of global warming?  Eh, not so sure, I remain skeptical.  Do I think Kyoto would have fixed it?  Hell no.

All you environmentalists out there, take note:  nuclear power.  It rocks. You killed it back in the 60's and 70's, time to fix that mistake.
