OMG there's no such thing as bad chocolate. I tend to be a little bit of a chocolate snob though since I was never allowed American chocolate as a kid. My absolute favorites are

Perugina Baci

Asbach Truffles

Michael Cluizel makes a Champignon Caramel and Boilet that are out of this world! His truffels are to die for.

Vosges Haut Chocolatiers makes a Red Fire Bar that mixes Chocolate and cinnamon. Chocolate with a little bite to it.

Bernard Castelain makes a Chocolat Noir aux Eclats D'Amandes I can never find anywhere.

I would eat anything made at Chocolat Bonnat

The Nutella reminded me of being a kid. My mother is German so I would take Nutella and Seedless Raspberry Jam sandwiches to school like everyone else took PB&J. I was so happy when I found Nutella at World Market and even happier when my local Von's started carrying it in the peanut butter aisle. Before that I had to drive up to LA to a little German Deli that would order it for me in bulk if I wanted more than the yearly jar tha came in my Xmas package. You really want something great to do with nutella???

Take a jar of Nutella, melt it in the microwave, stir in a couple jiggers of Chambord and then use it like you would fondue. pound cake, angel food cake, pretzels. omg...it's heavenly. Adjust the Chambord to your taste...I like a strong raspberry flavor. Soooo good. Damn...where's the nutella.

Uh....Hersheys?  lol

Glad you mentioned Hersheys!  I have had some of the best chocholates, but sometimes, I crave just the old plain Hershey bar, no almonds, not even the "too big" bar. Just the original....one block at a time.......

As far as the pole, I have not had the Teuscher or Gertrude Hawk, so anyone feel free to e-mail me a sample.  :)

JerseyKrissi72 -> RE: Favorite Chocolate (3/6/2007 7:43:41 AM)

I know it's not high priced chocolate but we all crave a certain cheap lil candy bar every now and then...Right now, I could go for a York Peppermint Patty....hey, I don't even care they are posting so much about being overweight..you only die once and they do have chocolate in Heaven so there.[8D]

Mythi, you are too funny!!!!!  Trader Joe's also has a few flavors of them, as does the cost plus World Markets...but the ones i love the most were a nougat type covered with the chocolate, and I can't find those...they were great frozen.....ARRRRRGGGHHH!  Now I'm really craving one.....and I don't have a single piece of chocolate in the house.....shame on me!

m

I'll check the next time I'm out that way...if they have them, I'll grab a few, and if you dont want them I'll somehow force myself to eat them.  *hand pressed to forehead, feigning a fainting spell*

Agreed.  They have a 41% cocoa milk chocolate that comfortably nudges my bitterness tolerance.

Vendaval -> RE: Favorite Chocolate (3/7/2007 2:32:42 AM)

Some of the privately owned cafe's in this area serve Mexican hot chocolate,
cocoa and cinnamon with whipped cream on top.
