Riding in the car with Master earlier coming home, he had Howard Stern on.  i briefly heard them say something about finding Jesus's bones?  And Mary Magdalines?  Something about the Catholic church wanting to look at em and already creating their cover story???

Now as my mouth dropped open and i recovered, i did ask Master if they really "found Jesus" and he shook his head No, but i want more info.

So whats up with the whole Jesus thing?  Or was i totally being naive and believing something i heard on Howard Stern?

What you are hearing about is the making of another documentry following the concepts of Moore/Gore.

An actor/producer wanted to make a controversial statement and show about Jesus to boost popularity and ratings. So he travels and happens to just stumble accross what PhD Archioligist and Historians have been pondering about for several years.

Stern was speaking about how the actor guy claims to have found the tomb and bones of Jesus proving that he was just a normal person all along. Unfortunaly, just like Moore/Gore, he still lacks real proof and physical evidence on this documentry. He's only wanting to raise controversy much like the DiVinci Code much like Moore/Gore with 911 and the environment.

WTF is a Moore/Gore?

Oh, I see! It's a new label for someone you disagree with but don't have the chops to disprove. Talk about making shit up.

Z.

PS: Devilslilsister - The alleged ossuary (box ‘o bones) of Jesus is an old controversy. The BBC did a piece on it over a decade ago and there have been numerous debates. James Cameron, director of “The Titanic”, is doing a documentary on the controversy, which has endured and flourished despite the understandably shrill objections of devout Christians.

Say what you will about Cameron’s motives, the question is worth a second look and is bound to create buzz. I think it is unfair and premature to accuse someone of grandstanding just because they tackle a hot topic or one that makes you uncomfortable. Or, for that matter, merely because Howard Stern chooses to report it.

as best i know, some archaeologists found a crypt with some ossuary boxes with some names on the sides
james the brother of jesus
and other names on them
mary mother of jesus and suchlike,  the boxes   have been dated  at or around the time of the crucifixion and the bones ( or whatever crap they found) has been carbon dated to the same time, the script on the side of the boxes is the correct aramaic dialect of the area and time, so who knows,
the sceptics say that    in those years  ''jesus '' the name is like  john or michael  these days and they say that its like having someone find john smiths bones   in two thousand years from now...
even the catholics are being wary on this one so, do what i did and just keep googling it..
you may want to have a look at chicago house in alexandria website , i heard a grunt that they were doing some of the aramaic provenance ( but that was just a grunt'rumour' and I've been out of the game for some years)
k

It's still all up in the air at this point. They gotta do the DNA testing to find out who the babydaddy really is before they can say conclusively.......

I can see it now..........."ahhhhhhh hello?........God?......oh great heavenly father dude? could you come here a minute? We just need a little swab...."

I can just see Maury Povich announcing, "In the case of 2,041 year old Jesus Christ, God, you ARE the father!"

Or, worse scenario, "God, you are NOT the father!"  Lightning flashes, thunder rolls, the Virgin Mary runs backstage and throws herself sobbing on the couch.....

I'd better head to church now, and pray for my soul.

no idea about Stern.  Though a few nights ago Anderson Cooper did a story on it.
I didn't watch it...my question to Doug was..."how can you find the bones of someone who isn't dead?"
I then turned off the television.  We've had a few discussions about it since...but haven't heard anything in the news.

My problem is with the DNA.  The DNA can prove that the people in the coffins are related.  But how can they prove the DNA is from members of the holy family?  I don't get that connection.  I consider this some James Cameron hype, nothing more.

That is tooooooo Fucking funnnyyy!!!!  Of  course you did leave out the part where God runs through the audience handing out spontaneous high fives...only to return to the stage to perform the obligatory "I'm not the baby's daddy dance"......

Thing here is simple.  Do we believe in the bible?  If so, what is Easter?

If we don't believe in the bible, what are we doing believing in Jesus to begin with?

The bible and Jesus I don't see as being a whole package. Sure there could have been a good guy named Jesus.

My opinion on the bible is that it is a good story that can be taken many different ways. It is just a few men's point of view on specific times in very distant history. It has been edited, translated thru different languages, by seriously biased human beings with their own agendas. How much of it is truth is up to the reader to decide for themself.

I totally agree with you on that one.  However, someone above in this thread said they found the entire holy family.  So, chances are they aren't saying it is just some guy named Jesus.

And if you believe in the Bible, which God do you believe in?  The Old Testament God or the New Testament God?  I know Christians who wrestle with the fire & brimstone vs the compassionate overseer.

Oh, so there was some truth to it.  I do agree that its got to be impossible to accuretly identify "Jesus's" bones.  Its not like we have a hair sample laying around, or a he donated any blood.  No finger nail clippings.....

My old perverted anthropology teacher told me that he believed Jesus was more like a mercenary.  Em, basically a guy who started a revolution and when he was defeated he turned all "love, peace, harmony" - basically as we know him know.

What they COULD do is match up the DNA to who ever is in the box.  Person A is the brother/uncle of person B and Person B is the son of person C.  They can prove its some human being, but as for which specific human being and if that human being is holy.

LaT i about died over your comment and i have to tell you my Cookie Crisp's think yer nuts.  = )

Fascinating.  Not like it matters anyways, i suppose.  ONE of these religions is right.  lol  Bout time we figured out which one.

Here is a short article about it from science daily.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/02/070226212800.htm

The DNA tests show that the bones of Jesus and the ones of Mary were not related. This combined with their being buried in the same tomb suggests that they were a couple.

Interesting story, but like the James ossuary from a few years back, it has a good chance of being a hoax.

A few things to keep in mind, Jesus and Mary were very common names in 1st century Israel. Nothing found in the tomb indicates anything unusual about the people buried there. There is no connection to the forged ossuary from a few years back.

From everything I've read about this tomb, its been known and studied for around a decade, is that no serious archaeologist or biblical scholar considers this tomb to have anything at to do with the Jesus of the bible.

Any child conceived in love outside marriage - thus not begotten by a husband - is a child of the god of beginnings - and the new hope of mankind.
