Generally speaking I'm against censorship but I also figure the mods usually know what they're doing. I will say though that I've seen a time or two when if I felt they were being a bit silly. For example, long ago and far away when I was using a different user name, they rejected one of my profile photos just because waaaaaay off in the back ground of the photo was a picture sitting on a shelf of what they THOUGHT was a minor (which in fact was of me, and I was of age.) I thought that was a bit extreme.

Overall, I feel they do a good job even if they can be over zealous now and then.

WAIT the mods have a sense of humor.  Is that allowed?  That means they are...human!?!?! What is this forum coming to!

Those on moderation are there for a reason.  I am pretty sure that the mods dont just have so much time on their hands that they randomly pick people to censor.  The TOS is thre for a reason, so that those of us who want to actually discus tings can do so without people running around tossing personal attacks for things they dont like, or delving into racial, gender or sexual attacks. Once someone cleans up their act, I am sure they are taken back off moderation. But if there was no repercussions for breaking the rules there would be no reason to have them. AT least we know they arent joking, if you dont behave, you will be put in the proverbial corner.

New funniest post on Collarme.

I got sent a warning once. At the time it bothered me. Looking back on it, I was clearly out of line, and the moderators took a very tolerant position, in my view.

I think, but don't know for sure, that there is usually a warning issued, before moderation. I may be wrong ... if so, please put me on moderation.

YES! Me too! Had photos rejected for looking young, or face partially cropped,  sexy ( like DV's above) + NOW there are LOTS of pics like this here!

BUT: this was a while ago. Looks like things have lightened up a bit

 - TY again Mod 11!

PS I have always had a crush on you as well!   "So Hot - yet so Cool"
and I didn't even know if ya was a boy or a girl!

Mods don't review profiles/photos.

The email I got was from a person with "moderator" in their name. they may not have actually done the rejection but they are the one who responded when I complained that the photo was rejected.

Yes, other warped people besides mods review the pics/profiles.  How else would the mods have time to keep the peace???

I feel sorry for those other nameless faceless people at times also, smiles.

Did you complain to Support when your photo was rejected?  If so, It was probably ModOne who responded since reviewers don't have access to the support mail queue and she was more or less our "boss".

yes I believe that's what happened. It's been a while but I think it was ModOne who answered.

I have been noticing that several posters now seem to have to have all thier posts approved before being posted.  I think this is nonsense.  None of the people in question have ever posted anything illegal or seriously wrong(at least that I have seen).  We are all adults and choose to participate in these forums.  No ideas are going to harm anyone.  Pre censorship seems very unreasonable to me.

The problem is that not everyone acts like an adult so sometimes they don't get to play with others until they learn not to run with scissors.

who said it has anything to do with being adults!

altho i have to admit i sorta deserved this one...

fyi i am on 3 other forums too and have done worse and have yet to be moderated on any of them....  this is the only one...  ahem... fwiw

I feel sorry for the Mods too, just like I feel sorry for what I put my own Mother through as a teenager...

Maybe it's no small coincidence that a certain Moderator on here occasionally likes to refer to (some of) us as "kids"

This very cool site is privately controlled and offered to us free of charge.  Accepting the decisions of the Mods is the only price we pay.  As benevolent dictatorships go, this is a fine paradigm of how to run them.

Posts vanish, threads get locked, smart, funny people get the [awaiting approval].  This is still a good place and my experience has been that the Mods are very tolerant of much nonsense.  Just respect the house.

Having been one of the people that Mod 11 (and others) have opted to deride (kindly and respectfully in all cases, I might add), I can only offer that the people you refer to were probably at some point, increasingly....an asshole (as I have been mistaken for so many {many, many, many.....} times).

Now, it's true, I have been mistaken for an asshole on more than one occasion (which of course, I never was actually...an asshole {okay...maybe I was....once}....they were mistaken...but there have been others who have been mistaken in my lifetime....this and theirs would not be the first), and only once in all my years here on CollarMe have I been given the prosaic "Pending"....I have to admit that while the Mods certainly don't know my inner angst...they certainly have been clear on my inner asshole. (Which, now that I think about it, sounds rather disgusting....that I know of, they've never actually done any inspections...of course, I sleep a lot....they could have done this while I was unawares....I suspect that my inner asshole was obvious enough such that no actual inspection was necessary).

And they have accurately attributed it appropriately (and I have equally and appropriately apologized...sincerely).

So...get your knickers all undone....the "Pending" is a method within CollarMe wherein which those who exceed their asshole quotient, are allowed to still remain...with proviso.

That proviso is "Pending".
