While I don't profess to know anything of the dangers of this chemical compound, I wanted to point out a few things that struck me about the article: - It isn't from the Washington Post, but from HealthNewsDigest.com.
- The article doesn't seem to have any comment from FDA or manufacturers' spokespersons.
- It does have a plug for a book that seems totally unrelated to the issue of shampoo contaminants.
- The closest it gets to being even-handed is stating "The FDA....has little authority or enforcement capacity over the cosmetics industry". This would be an issue for the US government to resolve, not an issue of FDA corruption, as one poster has claimed.
Having said that, I'm not disputing the validity of the claims, or the science behind them. I just get a bit wary of stories such as this that seem to be as much about getting an author's or group's name into the media, as they are about informing the public. Just my two cents. Tasha
