Cingular bought ATT and became Cingular, they are phazing out the juicey contract I have- February 2008. I told the mgr- that the FCC never would have approved the merger. He claimed there was no way to fix my phone what-so ever.

Now I see Cingular will be RENAMED ATT!!!

I am pissed off that this merger will delete my 850 minutes- and unlimited nights and weekends, free incoming text. all for under $42.00 [tax included]

Anyone else being screwed by their cell phone company???

I work for ATT, they bought Cingular. ATT never went away. There was no time in which we became Cingular...clear now. But I work for the corporate internet accounts division...so I don't know anything about the cell plans, sorry.

to replace the plan i have would cost @ $100.00

the merger screwed the customer. i plan to complain to the FCC.

lots of older plans are grandfathered in when that plan is no longer offered to new customers. We have cingular and have some features at a cost that isn't offered anymore. we were told that as long as we didn't change our features we would keep that price.

The merger happened 2 years ago.. they have just now agreed on and had approved the details.. one being the name change. I'm gonna miss that little orange guy :(

That would be my suggestion, also the better buisness bureau. If you complain to enough people in the company they might break down and agree to change your service over without the charge. I know in our section they take a lot of losses to try to make the customers happy.

I got a notice that february 2008, the tecknology will be obsolete. im talking a Nokia 5165- the black phones. very basic.

via their merger- I loose out.

a buddy of mine told me which batteries to use on the 5165 phone.

sometimes when they work on the system, it screws the calls-system up.

Well, to me cell phones are a necessary evil....hell, I still use an answering machine on my landline at home.....I got tracfone, sometimes I use it lots, others, barely at all.......half the time the battery on the thing isn't even charged! The other half, I may or may not know where it is. And it seems that most cell phones are obsolete after 3 months anyway...I had to buy a newer, more expensive phone because the company didn't make the batteries for it anymore! They'll get you coming or going!

You can find parts on ebay. ebay has everything!!!!
