Does anyone here remember Knockers? I can’t remember if that was what they were actually called. I’m talking about the two hard balls connected by a string with a ring in the middle. It was a fantastic toy! You could knock both you sisters out at the same time!

I absolutely remember them. OMG! I actually had three pair in total... the first two were used so much they shattered all over the place. The third, and final pair, I figured out I could throw them around much like bolos. I think I even tried that theory out on my younger brothers and sister.

Man, those things were a riot.

I also remember thse stupid slap bracelets, the strips of metal covered in right plastic that you spmacked on your arm and they curled around. In my school at least, they were eventually banned because you could "cut or injure yourself or others".

lol

i miss:
the HoJo's (Howard Johnson's) along the highways - that was some good eating!

listening to AM radio that played the good rock music (America, Queen, Grand Funk Railroad, etc)

swimming in the creek with friends at my uncle's place in PA

exploring along the mountain path for hours upon hours

snacking at the local Dairy Queen or Jack in the Box

Bozo Circus during lunchtime on WGN

Animal Stories with Uncle Larry (Lujack) and Little Tommy - local radio personalities on WLS radio when i was young

Saturday morning cartoons

drive-in movies (and sneaking in with my older cousins)

ahhhh - such memories and more which may never be re-created again

Trying to "bolo" the stupid neighbor's little stupid yapping mutt is what got them taken away from me.

I still played outside up until I was just over 18, then I moved interstate and none of my new friends would ever go bush walking or play outside stuff.
I know I'm 19 but I just don't grow up. Oh well I do actually wish the world was less legal bound, pretty much everyone but the lawyers do.

Remember when the airwaves actually shut off every night and The Star Spangle Banner played.  I wonder what kids think now if they happen to watch Poltergeist.

Those Clackers had a bad habit of shattering and causing some pretty good damage.
