AquarianMale53 -> Senior's Dress Code (3/30/2005 6:06:21 PM)

Many of us "old folks" (those hovering near 40, over 40, or WAY over 40) are quite confused about how we should present ourselves. We're unsure about the kind of image we are projecting and whether or not we are correct as we try to be hip and conform to the trends & fashions that designers in NYC, California, &/or Paris inflict upon the world.

So a sincere study was made of the situation and here are the results. I don't want to burst your bubble, but despite what you may have seen on the streets, the following combinations DO NOT go together and thus should be avoided:

1. A nose ring and bifocals
2. Spiked hair and bald spots
3. A pierced tongue and dentures
4. Miniskirts and support hose
5. Ankle bracelets and corn pads
6. Speedos and cellulite
7. A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar
8. Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor
9. Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge
10. Bikinis and liver spots
11. Short shorts and varicose veins
12. In-line skates and a walker
13. Thongs and Depends

siamsa24 -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (3/30/2005 6:16:51 PM)

Sadly I have seen some of these........it has scarred me for life

Other fashion things that make my eye twitch:
black with navy blue
black with brown
socks and sandles
crew socks with shorts
fanny packs (yes, people around here still wear them *shudder*)
open toed shoes with the reinforced toe hose

And there are more, but I will drop them on you all later, right now I'm sleepy

GreyStorm -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (3/30/2005 7:46:15 PM)

Well according to siamsa, I need fashion help. Not with everything on her list mind you, but some things. Sighs....I can never keep up.

Pavel -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (3/30/2005 8:08:50 PM)

I had a teacher back in highschool, that I was going to try to list all the things that she was doing wrong by that list, but then I just came to the conclusion a burqa or somthing would be the only thing to make her managable.

Still, pain and agony. I once ran into someone at work in her 40's that looked like she robbed a Hot Topic. Vynil has it's place, but not by my till at Costco when it's 80 degrees on someone twice my age.

[sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif] Funny as Hell, and yes sadly I've seen some of these...
Was it bad of me to tell this guy to wear boxers or briefs to cover very loose things around a huge surgical scar?? It looked freaky, and not in a good way... M

siamsa24 -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (3/30/2005 8:26:06 PM)

I am also highly picky, I don't know where it comes from, but I tend to use the "Are you going to wear that?" on my boyfriends in hopes that they will say "ah, no" and trot back off to change into something else. [:D]

GreyStorm -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (3/31/2005 12:13:20 AM)

Ahhh passive agressive. You should try the direct approach.

siamsa24 -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (3/31/2005 6:56:55 AM)

I have actually said "You aren't going to wear that navy blue sweater with those black pants are you?" and it was answered with "Sure, why not?"
After that the other question became code for "go change your clothes, there is something wrong"

sissymaidlola -> Now for something completely different ... (3/31/2005 9:44:13 AM)

Be very, very careful what you are doing here, siamsa24. sissy Can totally relate to what is going between you and your boyfriends in these situations. Back in his early twenties, one of sissy's very first girlfriends said exactly the same thing to him:

"You are not going to wear THAT shirt and THOSE pants, are you ?" She demanded.

"Well, that was my intention, yes ... why, don't You like them ?" sissy replied.

An emphatic, "NO!" was all sissy got back, delivered with one of those withering looks that ONLY genetic Women can accomplish.

"So, do You think i should wear something different, then?" sissy tentatively suggested.

"Well, after what I just told you, what do YOU think ?" was Her somewhat circumspect response.

So sissy, sensing that something might be wrong here, trotted off back into the bedroom with his head full of all kinds of confused musings ... why didn't She like him in his shirt and pants? ... and exactly how different should his next ensemble be? ... those kind of thoughts. Trouble was, this was Her apartment and what sissy was wearing was the only clean change of clothes that he had brought with him for the weekend. So sissy reappeared from the bedroom wearing one of Her frilliest dresses and 4" heels, primarily as his way of showing Her exactly how ridiculous and unreasonable She was being.

But his plan backfired just a little bit and the rest is history, as they say. She absolutely adored the way sissy looked and moved in a dress, and instead of requesting that he go back in the bedroom and change, instead She insisted on putting lipstick and makeup on him, and shaving his legs so that he could wear stockings. A few quick lessons in feminine deportment and mannerisms and how to carry a handbag, and we were out the front door before sissy had fully appreciated what had happened to him. And that's how sissy started crossdressing ...

So be very cautious of what you ask for, siamsa24 !! [;)]

Curtsies,

sissy maid lola

perfectlycast -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (3/31/2005 11:44:15 AM)

siamsa24 - let's keep in mind exactly where we live now. This is definitely not a "fashion conscious" town. We live in what is still a fairly "blue collar" town where your grandfather (and maybe even your father) did not grow up worried about what the fashionistas were saying about what to wear.

On the other hand, I have to agree with you in regards to the navy blue/black or the black/brown combos - it would seem to be an obvious mistake. Then again, to look on the bright side, you can be happy your boyfriend is not trotting out in a plaid/stripes combo.

siamsa24 -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (3/31/2005 8:22:48 PM)

That's very true.
And I live even further out (near Millersburg [&:] )

domtimothy46176 -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (4/5/2005 7:04:54 AM)

Not being terribly fashion-conscious myself, living here in the middle of farm country, I suggested the traditional housedress as a solution to the challenge of increasing girth for my beloved pregnant girl. This was met with a glare that is eerily reminiscent of the time that I suggested that bibbed overalls and plaid flannel went amazingly well with the traditional green John Deere cap. Perhaps I'm missing some of the more subtle nuances of modern fashion. [;)]

I think I gave that look when it was suggested that I would look "cute" in a pair overalls and a bandana...........
I have been told that if women weren't born with the ability to give the look of death that I should give lessons [:)]

ruffnecksbabygir -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (4/5/2005 9:39:02 AM)

i live in miami so everyone walks around practically naked here....my lil fashion pet peeve is those who wear the brazilian style jeans with the big gutt hanging out! i do not have the body for brazilian jeans, therefore i stay away from them....some times wish others would do the same! lol...[:'(]

liltxsubby -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (4/7/2005 7:04:57 PM)

sadly, I have seen all of that. Socks with sandals drives me nuts. If your feet are cold, wear tennis shoes for pete's sake.

siamsa24 -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (4/7/2005 7:47:59 PM)

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.

It is one of my personal peeves, if they are not removed I will stop whatever I happen to be doing at the moment and remove them.
How can someone be naked and still be wearing socks? It's like wearing socks and a swimsuit

GreyStorm -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (4/7/2005 9:09:06 PM)

swimsuit and socks = bad????

Wow no wonder I am single.

siamsa24 -> RE: Senior's Dress Code (4/7/2005 9:14:31 PM)

Oh god, I really hope that you are kidding at this point. Otherwise I may not be able to read this thread any more due to the fact that I have developed a twitch from it.....
