i get several e-mails throughout the week from different Doms/Masters who are seeking and i was asking myself this morning why, out of all these e-mails there is not One i am really interested in pursuing.  What i basically came up with was there is no "wow" factor they pretty much all sound the same.  Here's my question:

Was there the 'wow' factor for you right from the start?

The wow is projection pure and simple. There is no one on this earth that has the ability to make someone go wow through their looks, personality or ability without you adding to their image with your rose coloured spectacles. As Nietzche said 'A good pair of spectacles is usually enough to cure love.

Yes...when we met in person. Be aware that I've never met a submissive from online that's working for me in this way. I have, however, met vanilla lovers...one of which who has come to mean a great deal to me.

Just was thinking about the "Wow" factor a little more here.
How many thought they had that Magic Wow factor, only
to be left feeling a little Jaded or jilted in a bad way.

You know when the reality of the "WOW" factor bubble has
been totally popped and deflated? When everything comes
crashing back down to earth.  Call this the "WOWDrop"
for lack of better words?

The thing about the WOW factor...or perhaps a calling to Master or serve someone is this: BOTH must not only feel it, but BOTH must answer it. Sometimes your WOW or calling is not enough.

I totally agree with this.  The wow involves a huge amount of projection/transference on my part.  The wow itself is an illusion but this doesn't make it trivial.  For me, if I'm feeling a wow, I take it as an indication that somethings going on inside my head thats worth following up on.  If the wow isn't present, nothings happening inside my head so there's not alot of interest.

Because the wow is an illusion, its important for me to keep it in perspective and remember that its my wow and not to hold the other accountable for it.

Agreeing back at ya. Yes, that is a responsible way to look at the wow factor. Most of us have had others say they felt like they knew us from somewhere or that we looked like someone important in their past. When that has happened to me, it has given me an uneasy feeling because I have no idea of what the past person was like or what I would do that may break the illusion.

Hello. =)

I can say, in all honesty, that I've never had a Wow moment in all my online life, lol. I met the Mister in a non-bdsm chatroom and wasn't really too impressed. However, I found out he lived about ten minutes from me, so we decided to meet for breakfast. Since then, the wows keep piling up with him.

As far as any online impressions are concerned, I just reserve judgement all across the board. So, there are no wows, but no yucks, either.

Cheers,
Stella

I met a WOW here on CM, but my first impression was "you have to be kidding" because of the way the profile was written.  I wrote her a short note telling her that if she WAS real, that her profile would never attract the people she was looking for.  Notes turned into lunch, just to meet.  The meet turned into "maybe we can get together a few times a month."  The first night turned into three or five nights a week here.  Wow.

WOW #2:  Went with a friend from here to pick up a friend of hers from the Anacortes Ferry, she wanted company for the two hour each way drive.  Was doing nothing else, so I went along for the ride.
Ferry unloads, and across fifty feet, and a mob of about a hundred people , a girl I had never seen before locks eyes with me.  I looked to my friend and said.....  "Oh dear fate.  Tell me that isn't the girl we are here to pick up."
Later when asked why I seemed aprehensive,  I told her of the "quantum thump" that I got (think of the universe hitting you with a nerf bat) when we saw each other .  At that instant I KNEW that life was about to get a great deal more interesting.  So far, it's been nearly a year of interesting times, but she has been more than worth it.
Yeah, a WOW, but it wasn't the kind I wanted at the time.

Of course, it wasn't until about four PM the next day when we woke up, that I looked over at her angelic face and thought to myself.  Ummmm.  She was such a natural, I never actually asked her if she was in the lifestyle, I just made the assumption by association.
Of course, she was vanilla without a HINT about anything scene related.  WOW

Lucky for me, she is a real quick study.

I guess I am a cynic and I tend to ignore the wow factor as I have seen ones I wasn't that hot on blossom and ones who I thought were wow as hell turn into yawns.

It is the ones who you get the little wows about that seem to slowly build to OMG.

This pretty much fits my thoughts.....
