I've been having a sex and the city watching fest over the past few days, i'm a huge huge fan!! Anyway after watching a certain few episodes i got to thinking about fairy tales and their influence on us. Charlotte says 'that all women just wanna be rescued'. Hearing that and i have heard it many many times through repeated watching depresses me. We now have a society where women are more independant, have careers etc etc and yet i still see so many waiting for their prince on his white stallion blah blah.
Soooooooo in rebellion here are three of my kinda fairy tales.
The first is from sex and the city. Sam and Carrie are walking down the street and Sam is complaining that her present lover has a huge huge penis and that it frightens her a little. Carrie reminds her that she recently dumped a man because he was a little under endowed and Sam says she is looking for not too big, not too small but jussssssst right. Carries response is who are you ? Goldicocks!!
The second again from sex and the city. Carrie is dating a politician who wants her to pee on him in the shower. She struggles with this for a while and eventually tells him she doesnt think she can do it but maybe he would enjoy having warm tea poured on him instead. The politician then dumps her on the pretext that her writing a sex column is endagering her career. She retaliates by writing a column about his fetish entitled the princess and the pee. Career ruined!!
The third is actually my own. Whilst on a girlie weekend in Blackpool we went in a cafe frequented by the drag queens from 'funny girls'. In there i met a rather nice but not so attractive guy who invited us to be his guests at the club that night. Hours of preparation later, you know the make up, the hair, the clothes etc etc we got to the club and i looked for my man. Eventually he found us and well to cut a long story short i found myself in a i cant date a man who looks better than me in a dress and makeup situation. My friends and i decided this average looking guy to stunning woman would from then on be known as Cinderfella. The happy ever after ending is that i found the perfect shoe shopping partner.
So we have a woman searching for the perfect cock, a woman scorned getting her revenge and me shopping for the perfect shoes in the perfect company. Not a prince or white stallion in sight, now those are my idea of the perfect modern day fairy tales.
