That's how I feel about collarme, I'm here developing a taste for this lifestyle.

I think it is personal preference.   I prefer someone who is more knowledgeable than I am.   I am wanting to get out into the dungeon scene more, and need that type of safety. 
Some people on the other hand, like to train a new sub.  
For you, it will be difficult to determine your limits at first.   Just be careful with whom you trust in the beginning.
