mixielicous -> are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 11:45:56 AM)

i like to go with the *theres no such thing as an unowned slave* line of thought which means to me, i was a submissive before i was collared, and if ever released, i will be a submissive again. i only took the title of slave after i was collared, and sometimes think its silly when girls with no RT experience in D/s call them self a slave. IMO, you can be of slave heart, but to be of slave status i must be owned.

disclaimer: if you are an unowned slave, well i do not think any less of you, this is just my opinion and not intended to start a "youre only real if _________" debate! [;)]

just wanna see who else would revoke their slave status if released etc

MagiksSlave -> RE: are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 12:01:25 PM)

Honestly with me I have variouse levels of submition I dont even consider myself the same thing in different relationships. I have had relationships where I considered myself nothing more then a bottom.. I only wanted to be a bottom to that person and that was that I have had relationships wher I was the sub, I only wanted to sub to that person and  nothing more. Untill I met Master I didnt even think I had slave in me. I was wrong to Master I feel like a slave I want to be a slave, If I ever need to move on from Master I dont know what I would be to the next person I have been everything from daddys lil girl to sub to bottomI was even a Domme in a relationship. I was perfectly happy with all those levels I never felt I needed more I felt I was getting exactly what I needed from that person and the kind of person they inspired me to be. When I am unowend I guess I considermyslelf a free person with submissive needs.

I hate the term 'slave heart' and find it utterly empty of any real world application.  Just like "natural sub" as if there are artificial or unnatural ones?

I consider myself a slave.  Because it is my orientation.  My orientation does not change depending on who I am with or around, although expression OF my orientation or how we form a particular relationship together may.

I also now consider myself a dom- I would consider that even if I never had another partner in my life.

But since it's just all personal preference, do whatever makes you feel yummiest.

i feel anyone who yearns to be a slave, is of slave heart. the term is nothing selective or pure to me.

One of the most practical reasons to use labels like submissive or slave is as an aid to find like-minded individuals.  I called myself submissive, because I wanted to attract a Dominant partner and meet people who had similar interests. These people who call themselves slaves are trying to give others a better understanding of what they are looking for via a label.  If I call myself a slave, I am probably looking for a M/s dynamic.   I was not looking for a M/s dynamic, so I never called myself a slave.  (And I ended up in one suspiciously similar anyway!)  I still don't consider myself a slave even though my relationship fits many of others' ideas about M/s and I feel no real need to switch labels because every relationship is so unique I think it's pointless.  My Dominant knows who is the boss.  Everyone else knows who is the boss not only through our self-appointed labels, but through our actions as well.  That's good enough for me. So imo it is more about the convience of the label than maintaining some sort of status.   Side note:  I have always felt 'looked down on' online for not being a slave and was so relieved not to experience that RT.  With the internet I think it's even easier to get caught up in labels because we can only communicate through words.  But the RT importance of labels outside of searching for like-minded individuals....that's something I don't quite get.  +edited for spelling...and how do I always end up replying to the wrong person? when i started playing with bdsm some 20 years ago, i was a bottom...i then grew into a sub, in a 24/7 live-in D/s situation...after that ended, i decided to explore to determine just how much i wanted to submit &/or surrender & began to delve into slave...this is where i remain, even though i'm not currently owned...an Owner is what i seek & a slave is how i feel most comfortable, so i continue to use that label for myself, no matter what my relationship status is.......

bearincuffs -> RE: are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 1:04:30 PM)

In my case, I've always been submissive all of my life. Shortly after the man who became my Master, knew I am submissive and also saw the heart of a slave within me and he does frequently refer to me as slaveheart. When is was given the status of slave, it was appropiate and have been growing more into this.
If I ever found myself in a position of not being owned anymore for whatever reason, I honestly can not say if I'd revoke my status. Chances are I will always be someone's sub/slave.

viperess -> RE: are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 1:07:49 PM)

Greetings mixielicous,

i agree for me i do have a "slave heart" and "slave belly" so i understand where you are coming from with that. i just read this same topic on another thread and instead of trying to think today with this migraine i am copying what i had to say there. :
The way it was told to me a few years ago..okay more like 20 something years ago, a girl may have a slave belly, slave desire, and slave mentality but until she is owned by a Master she is not really a slave. Once she is the property she is a slave until a time may come where she is no longer owned. For me i did not like hearing that as it was after the passing of my Master and so i was not considered a slave even though in my heart and belly i knew i was a slave. Many say there is no real slavery and that it is a lifestyle choice, while i know i am not to challange that which a Master says for me at least it is not a choice as it is what i know...it is a true burning that can not be touched except in my complete and udder surrender to my Master...for me it is like living as the walking dead when i am not in service, owned, and property to Him. That is like many do not like the regestry as they say you can not do things like that as it is a throw back to the days of slavery..but to me i am a registered, branded, and marked slave as that is my station in life.
Respectfully

sleazybutterfly -> RE: are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 1:13:11 PM)

I know that I am a slave whether I am owned or not, its just how I live my life, and the frame of mind I have.  I am not submissive to most people at this point in my life, only to Master.  Would I still be a slave if I were released tomorrow?  Yes.  I know that as a slave I am most fulfilled when I belong to someone though.  (not meaning I don't have purpose in my life without a Master, just that it's nice to be able to have all parts taken care of)

hereyesruponyou -> RE: are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 1:13:45 PM)

Titles make people feel more comfortable sometimes. Those people should use what makes them feel best in my opinion. No matter what titles we use or do not use doesn't change the fact that slaves and subs are both owned by choice....because if they are not it's not what we are into this for IMO

I would.

RWAble -> RE: are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 1:21:26 PM)

I consider myself a slave, because I am a slave to my beliefs. I am a person that gives 24/7, it is something that can't be turned off and on. I like to please people. That can be done at work, play or home.

That's like saying I have an art heart because I yearn to paint and to create beautiful images.

It sounds really nice in a story.

i dont know how many men could evoke the emotions needed to make me yearn for 247 tpe, but i am always submissive.

hisannabelle -> RE: are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 1:47:03 PM)

i don't think my status of being owned would affect the fact that i identify as a slave. being in this relationship has allowed me to grow from my identity as a submissive into my identity as a slave, but He still refers to me as His submissive - i simply feel, think, breathe like a slave. i self-identify as a slave. i use the words interchangeably, but i don't think that being a slave (for me) has anything to do with whether or not i am someone's property.

Wildfleurs -> RE: are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 2:43:18 PM)

If I were released tommorow I would not identify as a slave.  In fact I'd probably take a long hiatus from anything significant.

nissa -> RE: are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 2:53:31 PM)

In the past I never refered to myself as a slave; it was always a name/title that my owner gave me. However, I have always found myself submissive to all, not just to the owner.

While I tend to agree with the thought that titles do not actually make the person; I will admit that recently my thinking is shifting a bit towards the idea that if unowned, one can not be a slave. I am still not 100% in that camp, but the arguments that have been given to me so far, are holding up.

Devilslilsister -> RE: are you still a slave? (3/14/2007 3:16:11 PM)

For the record, i dont consider myself a slave nor have i ever considered myself a slave.  My Master does, as i am 'his slave"  or better yet a "collared slave".

i think there are some that are a slave and unowned.  I personally think it takes a different type of person to be a slave as I define submissive and slave completely different.   Being a slave, imo is a way of being, a way of thinking, a way of viewing the world.  I think a submissive can be trained into a slave as well.  IMO there are alot of "undiscovered" slaves out in the world.  Slave heart, slave belly, slave feet....... i dunno on all that.

i also think that with out life experience one can never know if they are a slave.  They may have an idea, but to truely know... how can they?  How can you know if you like strawberries if you've never eaten them?

On the whole i think there are alot less slaves then what is proclaimed to be.  As for being a Master, i think of it the same way.  One may have 25 years of owning girls and IS a Master, but currently does not own a girl.

I think i see it as part of who you are AND a skill set.  Like a Carpenter.  A Carpenter with X amount of years of experience, is a carpenter whether he is working on a project currently or not.  Yet if he hasnt the experience, then he isnt a carpenter.  But then on top of that, i do think alot of people run around claiming they are a slave or Master with out the skills or experience.  Just because a person can put together a cabinet does not make him a carpenter.

Edited to Add - if i was released, i would not call myself a slave.  But that is because i do not believe i am of the mentality for it OR if i am, i have yet to discover it.
