We have four dogs, and a bunny. Two of them are Boston Terriers (Phoebe and Oliver), one is a shepherd mix (Pepper), one German Shepherd (Akasha) and a lil bunny (Babe).

They are like our kids and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Phoebe has to sleep under something no matter the time of day, Oliver loves anything as long as you dip it, Pepper gets grumpy when the others play (we call him old man), and the puppy is still learning her way (but has tamed all of them to think she is in charge, except Phoebe).

I would say they for sure top us.. they are in charge of the house..from the bed, to the kitchen.

Right now the farm is running rather lean on pets. Only two large dogs, a cat, 4 fish and two horses. The bird died last week and the coyotes got all the chickens.

The funniest story I will have to get back to you. Everyone says all my animals are weird and goofy so it seems that funny stories are kind of the norm. I am going to have to think to come up with a funniest.

Right now I only have a cat, gave the chameleons to the boys- they get a kick out of them....now that i will be working soon i am looking to get a boa....sometime soon.

I have one dog, a Beagle.

The only person she barks at is the mailman, anyone else she's just afraid of. Oh, and she thinks one of those anamatronic dogs, is a real dog, and tries to play with it.

And she for sure owns me, and she knows it, and takes advantage of it.

I just thought of a really funny one, from a year ago last fall... I think.

We have a septic tank and the PVC exhaust thing came up right in the center of the upper horse pasture. We have lived there since 2001 and the horses have never even paid any attention to it. For some reason my younger horse became just fascinated with that white pipe. Using it to scratch itches on his face, chewing on it, even occasionally running around it like it was a barrel and he a barrel horse.

Well, the male of the house being a neurotic anal retentive Virgo type that hasn't a mechanical or building bone in his body began freaking out. Sqawking about it getting broken, thousands of dollars of septic tank repair..yada yada yada. Well me being me (laid back and kinda ......whatever) pretty much ignored the fussing for awhile. Then I saw the horse really lean into a good scratch and thought "If that moron breaks that thing I will have to be the one to either fix it or pay to have it fixed"

So, being the creative person I am and all. And knowing horses the way I do. I thought he needs to have a reason to want to leave it alone. Soooooo, I started to think.."what would scare the shit out of him and make him stay away from it.....hmmmm..... I KNOW!! Plastic grocery bags!" So I took a dozen or so and made one big long strip, took it out and tied it around the top letting the ends flap and pop in the breeze. Making sure to shake it really good at Mr Snoopyhorse while I was doing it. Ohhhh it was a big boogie man for them, lots of snorting and wild eyed looks. I was SOOOOOOO proud of myself.

I came back inside, talking to my (adult for the mods) daughter as I worked in the kitchen. Then my daughter began just laughing and laughing, I turned and she was bent over laughing so hard pointing out the window. I turned and stared in disbelief.

Now, imagine a gorgeous rose gray arabian horse. Carries himself with all the style, flash and grace the arabian is famous for.....Running like a bat out of hell, tail up, nose up, neck arched..........with one end of a long strand of plastic grocery bags in his mouth and the other streaming out behind him, back and forth in front of the house along the fence. I swear I heard "Na na na NA NAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

I tore out the door to keep him from doing something really stupid like getting it stuck in his throat or around his tongue. Of course ......as I flew thru the fence he ran right past me within inches and dropped it right in front of me and kept running.

My namesake, Naja kaouthia, does not exactly make a good "pet" but I do keep and breed them. Albino specimens are lovely creatures, pink eyed cream colored things with blushes of pink, yellow and orange.

Unfortunately their temperment doesn't match their appearance much. Albino monocled cobras are a bit on the mentally retarded side for some reason, possibly because their pink eyes make them light sensitive so they're easily startled. So it's pretty funny the way they charge up to me all hooding and huffing, then get scared and turn to run away for a few feet, then completely forget that they were scared and come charging up again. Very silly little beasts. Well, little is relative as they max out between six and seven feet. When they are newborn they are literally transparent and you don't need an x-ray to see all of their functioning organs. Cute pink wiggle-worms. Retarded, but cute.

Ophiophagus hannah is a lot easier to handle, smarter and more fun to work with, even at the adult size (10' to 15') But Ophiophagus doesn't make as good a screen name as Naja.

I'm definitely a humble servant to the health, welfare and comfort of my snakes, as I think that the whole mentality of "mighty snake master" is a) likely to get you bitten and b) not humane to living, feeling animals who don't deserve to be used as ego props.

That is the "other critters" option, SilverShadow.

The human folk like being puppies and kitties and ponies, etc.
So that would be a whole other poll. Ran out of space for
all those choices here, only 10 choices allowed in the format.

Can’t just complain, so here is one story with most of my pets involved. The parrot couldn’t join or would have.

My human pet, a blood thirsty little kitten, has been very pleasing so I promised her some special pictures to keep in her room. I am on the bed laying on the bed and the dogs and cat decide that must mean it’s puppy pile time. So my partner is snapping pictures away while the flea sisters (The two toy dogs) are mobbing me and the cat leers evilly in the background. You can hardly tell she is there until you realize there are two yellow eyes staring out of dark corner of the picture.

As I look at them I decide that most of them can never see the light of day, since some officious person will decide I’m a Zoo and try and put me in jail.

I like animals, but don't feel terribly comfortable around them... I'm also afraid I give them that vibe when I'm around...
If I were going to have a pet, I think it would be a dog, or a bird though; I like them best. M

We have horses, cats and dogs.
The red horse Danny was broke today, Yay!! So he is now officially a horse and not a big puppy dawg hanging out in the paddock.
Having as many animals as we do there's never a dull moment.

We have :

-5 barrel horses. An AQHA gelding, AQHA mare, 2 APHA geldings and a quarab mare.
-7 dogs. 3 chihuahuas, a shepherd mix, pom mix, sheltie, and border collie mix.
-3 inside kitties
-5-10 barn kitties
-an albino african clawed frog
-a beta fish.

As for funny stories, I usually have dozens and none are coming to mind right now...except maybe the time I got a "butt-concussion".

I took a greenbroke colt I had owned for less than a week to a show. Not overly bright of me but I was a teenage UM at the time and I knew EVERYTHING about horses. Absolutely EVERYTHING, you know! And of course I didn't think it was at ALLLLL possible that I wouldn't be able to handle this greenbroke race track colt! I was like the uber-awesome-horse-whisperer-extraordinaire!

Um, yeah, he threw me half way across the warm up pen when another horse bumped into him. I landed flat on my ASS and got a concussion from shaking my brain. My mother said it was definitive proof that my head is up my ass!

Like DIANE SAID we broke her red colt today and what was funny as hell he just wouldn't go no matter what you used to convince him,spurs heels or any thing until she started walking and he followed her like a puppy.They all are big babys and it makes an easy job to break them,not one hop or buck when we would hit the saddle..The easy way not having to cowboy up means a lot for my tired old bones..A barrel or a buggy horse we haven't decided yet more the likely just trail ride him.. smiles....bounty.
